I’m giving Sarr about 20 games to figure out his fit with this team. He’s playing a new role and had an injury. Gotta be patient.
But I will say I don’t think it’s been a good start to the year offensively for him. Feels like both Sarr and the team are confused on how to use him
I love these actions where Trae and AJ screen for each other. AJ gets the mismatch and Trae feeds him. AJ sees the help coming from the top-side so he hits the defender with a nasty stutter-rip to the baseline.
(foul call was overturned but still a great move from AJ)
There’s 5+ possessions like this every game and it’s just ugly. I guess we’re looking for the high low here with Sarr sealing his man, but AD doesn’t have a good angle to deliver that pass and that’s not really Sarr’s game anyways.
(watch Kyshawn calling for the ball lol)
What a difference a year makes.
First we execute the guard to guard switch on the handoff. Bilal gets caught on the flare screen but Trae slides over to help. Trae’s man cuts from the corner but Ayton slides over to take that away and get our defense set again.
On a string.
Trae Young is still just a master at beating drop coverage. Defense goes under the first screen so AD re-screens for Trae. AD sets a solid screen and Trae just toys with Diabate in drop.
Also love how Kyshawn emptied the strong side corner when he saw the re-screen.
Jim retweeted
Trae Young on AJ Dybantsa: "He's going to be a superstar in this league. He already is."
This has been a constant theme for the Wizards offense this year. Kyshawn can really pass and I would love to see some type of split action or weakside screening action here but everyone is so stagnant.
This also happens on pretty much every AD iso. Gotta be a bit more creative.
I don’t think I’ll ever have a tougher decision than Boozer vs AJ for my number 1 spot last year
All time great feel prospect in Boozer vs an all time great scoring prospect in AJ
Ended up goin with AJ at 1 but man those guys were both so good and I’m just glad we got 1 of them
Boozer is basically just power forward Haliburton.
Hali had questions early on about his isolation scoring and in-between game. Those will be the questions for Boozer (I think he’ll figure it out but they are fair questions).
But elite feel and touch goes a long way.
CAM BOOZER TRIPLE-DOUBLE.
GRIZZLIES STAY UNDEFEATED.
Boozer (18p, 12r, 12a) becomes the second-youngest NBA player to ever record a triple-double, propelling the @memgrizz to their first 5-0 start since the 2014-15 season!
Keaton’s handle has always been super underrated for a guy his size and his funky pacing and foul drawing has instantly translated to the league
He has to make shots inside the arc at some point and I think that will come as he gets stronger, but he’s getting to his spots.
Really confused by our usage of AD this year. He’s always been better as a 5 yet we’re committed to playing him as a 4 on both ends.
The isos are frustrating for sure but why are we switching him so much on the perimeter on defense?
Keep him by the rim on both ends.
Zipper action into the guard to guard screen is a nice set. Trae ghosts out of the screen to create the angle/confusion and you can just see how effortlessly AJ can touch the paint.
This is the type of dynamism our offense needed in the half court.
I’m actually open to the idea of 40-minute games now
There are definitely some things I don’t like about it (makes the bench less valuable, records and per game averages will be messed up), but given that owners will never agree to shorten the season it might be the best option
