Replying to @Njeriwaridi
I agree with Atwoli, IN PRINCIPLE. But he's talking of the natural progression of society, the young work and gain experience, and become leaders based on that experience. And Kenya is NOT a normal society. The British messed that up.
As @TedQuinton said, in 1963, the 27 year olds straight out of school, who should have been starting work, were becoming leaders in 1963 by virtue of their certificates. Not only were they young, inexperienced and clueless; they were looking at least 20 years in office before retirement. So they were never real youth, meaning people who learned through WORK. They never matured, and imperialism was very effective in seducing them with consumerism and power as the equivalent of leadership. So they didn't build institutions I'm which they could graduate to elders and invite the young to nurture them so that they grow through work. That's why our elites are perpetually young. They never grew up.
The British messed us up, big time. The messed up natural progression of growth, maturity and hand over.
I asked @Wordslinger__ that when Naboisho Institute is ready, to please find me young Kenyans who want to be mentored as academics outside the university. People who are willing to commit years to learning. It takes years to get where I am, but Kenyan post graduate students don't care to learn the work. They want papers. So we babysit them to produce a decent document and then go. I am going to retire without mentoring a single student, in the real sense of the word. Passing them, I've done. Mentoring them? Nope. The few students that I tried with said I was controlling them. Maybe because in their view, I'm not a leader. Nikaacha na hiyo stori.
It's raining here in north Nairobi, the leeward side of the city, which means it's raining most everywhere else. I am thankful. It's been too hot to bear.
And it'll be a bit more tolerable during tomorrow's marathon.
Ase.

Planting new trees doesn’t magically undo the destruction of an entire ecosystem. You cannot replace centuries of biodiversity with a few saplings. Companies that destroy our natural resources should face severe penalties, including permanent closure when warranted. We’ve reached a point where protecting the planet is treated as optional, and that needs to change.
You’re deep in the estate renovating a bathroom and adding some tiles here and there, out of nowhere kanjo wako kwa gate knocking.
Yet somehow they missed a whole ghorofa being built without any approvals.

My conspiracy theory is, one of the reasons why forests are being logged at this rate. Planned impoverishment of Kenyans and communities. Cut trees, mess the weather, ruin the food baskets, make people dependent.

This is what was taught as scorched earth policy in 8-4-4. It a tactic of warfare.
We cannot call this tree harvesting the same way we cannot call cutting of trees in Nairobi pruning.
Aberdares Kwisha!
This is not sustainable. Are we really okay with desertification as official government policy?

How can millions of Kenyans sit back as one man and his minions systematically destroy the country?
Surely. Tukuwe serious.

If there’s a word I’d like to ban it is “decenter”, because many of the proponents of decentering things and people seem to be doing the opposite of what they’re advocating for. Every day decenter but it’s always the topic of discussion? Please, be about it or leave us all alone.
Need to remind you all that it's not possible to run Nairobi without having then capacity to demolish buildings.
For this reason you cannot take bribes at all. Because construction is unforgiving. You cut corners you get punished.

What in the black mirror has Jack Dorsey done?
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

This man is telling us you can construct in Nairobi for over a year without anyone from the county government noticing or bothering you.
This sounds like snake oil buana!
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja says the multi-storey building that collapsed along 9th Street in Eastleigh was under construction without the required approvals, despite an application for a 15-storey building with a basement having been submitted.
Sakaja says the county has forwarded documentation to the DCI for investigations and called for accountability among the developer and professionals involved, including the architect and engineer on record.
We need rain to cool down the temps overnight. This heat is excruciating ☹️. And farmers are in a terrible condition. God have mercy!
