Further Education has been ignored for too long. We are closer than ever to breaking point.

Since the union at college grew we have taken our members from a wage of 32k to 45k in three years. That is the power of union. So, if you are on a shit wage, with rubbish rights, join a union and fight. We have 80%+ density because we work for each other. We are your work family

Does this apply to FE colleges as well? They've made us pay VAT for decades!
Great to hear the House of Lord’s decision to block VAT on independent schools arguing that it protects quality education and allows these institutions to invest in facilities and scholarships. Maintaining VAT exemptions helps keep education accessible, preventing increased fees that could limit choices for families. They emphasize the importance of independent schools in providing diverse educational options and alleviating pressure on public resources! @UKHouseofLords @EducationNotTax @LauraTrottMP @Conservatives

And if you want skilled workers to build back better, you need FE teachers.
Which you refuse to pay even close to the same as secondary school teachers... Or even acknowledge our concerns.

Any support for #CollegesWeek2025?
What about further cuts to adult education - do you have a stance on this?

🚨 NEW: The Government's workers rights reforms will give parents a right to bereavement leave following a miscarriage

Are you also standing up for further education (FE) colleges? We have paid VAT for 20 years with no sign of relief.

Earlier today, I attended the debate in Parliament in relation to VAT on private school fees.
@bphillipsonMP was nowhere to be seen as MPs discussed the impact on children, parents, schools & staff.
Next stop, the High Court on 1-3 April.

The 50m one off payment is good, but unless it's every year it won't do for a pay rise.
Perhaps it's time we talk to the Treasury directly. If they can't see how training future builders and care workers helps the economy, perhaps they need to be shown.

Will this transfer across to FE colleges who, aside from a 50m "earmarked" as a one off payment, have been left out of discussions?
