My favorite thing about writing at work is that everyone else thinks I'm being super productive when I'm actually just writing my silly stories.

We do not support gen AI in the book, art and music communities. Ever. It has no place amongst human expression. It’s soulless, it’s theft and it’s damaging the planet. If you use it knowing that, you have betrayed your fellow humans, and I want nothing to do with you.

Been working on fiction in between thunderstorms. Check out "The Framemaker," a new story I've been tinkering with. "In the end she was still the framemaker, they were all framemakers, doing their best to remake the world." Link in replies.

The capacity for self-reflective critical thinking is what stands between humanity and the descent into a new form of totalitarianism AI is technological ideology. It strips you of the right to think for yourself while turning you back against yourself in isolation. It's inhuman
In only two years, ChatGPT has unraveled the entire academic project. Just two months after OpenAI launched ChatGPT in January 2023, a survey of 1,000 college students found that nearly 90 percent of them had used the chatbot to help with homework assignments. In its first year of existence, ChatGPT’s total monthly visits steadily increased month-over-month until June, when schools let out for the summer. (That wasn’t an anomaly: Traffic dipped again over the summer in 2024.)

We will probably only realize in retrospect how much of the world we live in was being shaped by the niche preferences and compromised human understanding of essentially weird and unpleasant people.

"Science describes accurately from outside, poetry describes accurately from inside. Science explicates, poetry implicates. Both celebrate what they describe. We need the languages of both science and poetry to save us from merely stockpiling endless 'information' that fails to inform our ignorance or our irresponsibility." God, I love Ursula K. Le Guin themarginalian.org/2018/04/1…

People tell you, as a writer, you have to be tough about rejection, but the mental health of querying authors now is not the same as 20 years ago or even 2 years ago. Receiving multiple rejections in one day, ghostings, little to no feedback in the face of immense competition…
