Going indie means everything is your job. Writing. Editing. The cover. Uploading to every store. Tracking sales. Marketing. Even the accounting. It is a small business with one employee, and most writers love one or two of those jobs and dread the rest. If you could hand off one part tomorrow, which would it be? And which part would you never give up? #AmWriting #WritingCommunity

Ever write a whole paragraph and then backspace over all of it? Some writers keep everything and fix it later. Others can't move on until the sentence feels right. Keep it or delete it? #AmWriting

One story world for years, or a new world every book? Staying lets readers follow side characters into new stories. The catch is your brain starts defaulting to the same rules. Which kind of writer are you? #WritingCommunity

I never felt the stigma, because I knew I’d never get traditionally published. I went into writing my first novel knowing I would have to do it all myself. No helping hand. No inside track. No putting in a good word with someone. Nothing. Literally building from the ground up with grass roots readers who I hope will eventually become fans.
Does anyone still care who published a book? Self-publishing used to carry a stigma. Now big names crowdfund their own editions, and readers mostly want a good story. Still feel that stigma, or is it gone? #WritingCommunity

Can science fiction work with no aliens, no armies, and no laser fights? Some of the best of it is just people trying to do right by each other in a strange place. Would you read that, or do you need the space battle? #AmWriting

Does editing an old scene count as a writing day, or only new words? Storybook: Master Novelist has Continue Writing, so one tap puts you back where you left off. Where do you draw the line? #AmWriting

Who was the first person to call you a writer? A teacher, a parent, a friend reading over your shoulder? For a lot of writers, one offhand comment years ago is still doing the work. Who was yours? #WritingCommunity

How long has your oldest story idea been waiting? Plenty of books start in middle school, get shelved through school, jobs, and life, then come back years later. The characters usually survive. The writing gets torn down and rebuilt, because the person writing it changed. Is there an old idea you keep coming back to? Would you rebuild it from scratch or keep what you wrote back then? #AmWriting #WritingCommunity

Do you railroad your plot or give your characters a sandbox? Some writers lock every beat. Others set a few waypoints and let the characters wander between them. Which one keeps you writing? #AmWriting

Which book made you want to write? Not your favorite now. The one you read as a kid and thought, someday I want to make something like this. Name it below. #WritingCommunity

What helps you settle into a writing session? Music, a candle, one certain chair? Storybook: Master Novelist has a candlelit writing room for when you want the page and nothing else. Ritual or no ritual? #AmWriting

Hard magic or soft magic? Clear rules and costs the reader can track, or a wizard whose limits stay a mystery? Even soft magic needs some plausibility, or it reads like a cheat. Where does your world land? #AmWriting #WritingCommunity

Posting about your own book feels awkward for almost every writer. The hope is that one day it stops being necessary. It rarely does. Plenty of well known authors are still out there every week, sharing their books on X and Instagram like everyone else. The path is never a straight line either. You figure it out as you go. What made self promotion less awkward for you, or does it still make you cringe every time? #AmWriting #WritingCommunity
