I had this same thought. Some apps do this to avoid revenue sharing with Apple or Google. They allow you to access your content, or existing subscription through your phone, but they don't allow new purchases. If you allow access to other store libraries, but not other store fronts, you drive more traffic into your own ecosystem for convenience. IF you want to buy a new game on Steam, do it on PC and then sync your library. It's better than what any other consoles offers, while preserving the integrity of their Xbox-first ecosystem.

Feels like Xbox, and the MM press(?) are all gas no brakes in trying create a cult of personality around itself and its CEO. Things feel disingenuous, especially when written in such a way. Kind of a twilight zone of old guard press legitimacy mixed with new age consumption.
