Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds is a wonderful collection of loosely linked short stories, and one I dip into regularly with pupils. I really enjoyed creating a set of free teaching resources based around the book for @TeachPrimary magazine. theteachco.com/uploads/speci…

The most popular reading material in class this term has been this collection of song lyrics. With volitional reading in decline, we need to start paying attention to what children are telling us about their reading preferences and valuing the texts they're already drawn to.

If you want an alternative to dressing up for this year's #WorldBookDay, why not ask kids to draw something by their favourite illustrator? You could create a 'gallery' and get them to talk about why they like that particular artwork. Celebrate both illustrators and writers! 🤩
