Why do companies even bother making their own launcher, just keep it in steam like a sane person
NIKKE: Goddess of Victory’s PC launcher may have been compromised by malware. An independent security investigation found that four JavaScript files on Level Infinite’s official CDN had been modified to deliver a remote-access malware. The malware can reportedly: > Steal browser passwords, cookies and login tokens. > Access personal files and take screenshots. > Give attackers remote control of infected PCs. The malicious files have been replaced, but previously infected systems may still be at risk. This is an unofficial investigation but avoid launching the pc version, play the mobile instead until official announcement

Friendly reminder that part of the reason Valve has AI disclosures by default is because Gabe also believes that AI is the future. Though unlike Tim Sweeney, he trusts consumers and devs alike to make the call for themselves on whether it's for them.
No. Full disclosure for gen Ai in games, if this is what customers want. You do not get to keep secrets if you are begging us to give you money. I am actually curious why you all insist on hiding it even.

Google got inspired by Tim Sweeny
We want to clarify what we announced today about our education services. Today’s announcements give schools more choice, not less. Here’s what we announced: - Gemini, Gemini Notebook, and Search will be OFF 🔴 by default. This is based on K-12 schools asking for more control over student use of AI services. - Schools are in control: They can choose to turn ON 🟢 one, two, or all of these services individually. - We are also updating Search for schools to make it better for learning. Specifically, AI Mode and AI Overviews will offer step-by-step guided learning through problems, so that students don’t get quick answers to schoolwork. We know there’s concern about students using AI to shortcut schoolwork, and schools have told us they want control. That’s exactly why we are making these changes today to address the feedback we’ve heard from educators in recent months. And we’ll continue to engage deeply with educators to ensure we are giving schools more choice, more controls, and improved Search for learning.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Google's post claims schools can turn on Search independently from AI services like Gemini for more choice. Google executives stated Search and AI are deeply integrated, so schools enabling Search must accept AI features with no separate opt-out. blog.google/products-and-p… nytimes.com/2026/11/03/us/… theverge.com/tech/1025411/g… arstechnica.com/ai/2026/11/goo… techcrunch.com/2026/11/03/goo… androidauthority.com/google-to-turn…

Google is trying to use its monopoly power to force AI into our public schools. No corporation should have the power to dictate how we teach our children.  Our public schools exist to serve students, not to grow the profit margins of Big Tech. nytimes.com/2026/11/03/us/go…

Wonder why piracy is a thing
en.gamegpu.com/news/igry/kha… The hacker known as voices38 has released a specialized update for the cracked version of the samurai action game Onimusha Way of the Sword by Capcom. This patch resolves a critical crash occurring when starting a new game, an issue widely reported by legitimate owners on the official Steam forums. After analyzing the code, the cracker confirmed that the fatal error was caused by an internal developer bug rather than the Denuvo bypass mechanism. Without waiting for an official studio patch, the specialist directly modified the faulty game function to eliminate the crash on affected computer systems. As a result, the pirated release currently offers greater technical stability than the retail store version. Previously, the same individual similarly fixed a memory leak and initial shader compilation crashes present in the original build of the action title Black Myth Wukong. #Onimusha #Capcom #Denuvo #Steam #PCGaming #GamingNews #CrackWatch

Claude Code is blocking legitimate game developers from doing their work, and users are getting frustrated. Anthropic recently introduced restrictions to stop its AI from recreating existing video games, but the filters appear to be catching far more than just game clones. Devs report Claude refusing perfectly legitimate tasks, including reverse-engineering, game modding, crash dump analysis, anti-cheat development and debugging their own projects. The problem is that Claude seems unable to distinguish between someone trying to copy a commercial game and a developer working on their own software. Anthropic’s Addy Osmani acknowledged the new restrictions and said the company would continue refining them.
