did anyone happen to check the markets during the fiasco on the @PSA_Sitch & @Friended4Ever show today? 😬
the plan for venezuela that i suspected seems to be coming to fruition. the operation was ridiculed for not yielding immediate fruit, but some things take time. most people are too high time preference to even consider it
Optics, Optics, Optics
@RyanMcbeth, in his video about arming the people of Iran to combat the IRGC, makes a tangential point about Venezuela that I've hit on before.
Sacking Maduro for a cooperative Rodríguez wasn't a failure, it was the plan!
Some claim matters in Venezuela have not improved, but unlike the speedy Operation Absolute Resolve to extract Maduro, the plan for the future of Venezuela must be slow and thorough.
With Maduro out of the picture, why didn't the US install the beloved Machado the very next day? The answer is obvious to anyone not instinctively attacking the administration: Legitimacy!
As Ryan points out, any obvious US interference in Iran will forever be used as a propaganda tool to claim/overstate CIA involvement. Hell, we still haven't been able to clean up the Tudeh Party propaganda that vastly overstates the CIA's involvement in Iran in 1953, as it is still the dominant narrative, even in the mainstream.
I suspect the US approach in Venezuela is intentionally minimally invasive. A light touch minimizes the chaos and increases the stability of their society. Utopia overnight, or ever, should not be a reasonable expectation. With Rodriguez in charge and cooperating with the US, we can guide the country to their next election, do what we can to ensure it is fair, and the people can choose their next leader. Legitimacy!
Any disaster or mild inconvenience that may (and inevitably will) arise in the future cannot be so straightforwardly blamed on the US since the Venezuelan people chose their next leader. Without the facade of democracy, the next leader would be smeared with allegations of being an installed US puppet more than they are going to be already.
Given Machado's popularity, it even makes sense for Trump to disapprove of her publicly, as it grants the optics of even further distance from US influence, should she win in the future.
didn't they pull a "we're getting divorced" prank like 1-2 years ago? 🤨
not saying this certainly isn't real, but not trusting it either

it's been a few hours since the php2shell patch went live and it seems there have been no major breeches as of this writing.
i suspect the bulk of the damage will be to forgotten infrastructure: small project/DIY servers that aren't actively maintained by sysadmins. they will silently be compromised and inducted into a botnet
anyway, here are parts of php's post about the update and methods to protect your server if you are unable to update at this time:
and if you are wondering why php2shell is a big deal, this is why:
@grok what is the php marketshare across all web servers?

it is interesting the dance that PHP must do with sysadmins around the world following the leak of the 2 php2shell CVEs. as soon as the patch drops the race begins as it will be trivial to feed the diff into an LLM and have it poop out a php2shell script
they gave an emergency warning and coordinate a time:
- if they release the patch too soon before sysadmins get the warning, then there will be a bunch of vulnerable systems out in the wild
- however, the longer they wait the more time the leaked script has to travel and all systems would be theoretically vulnerable*
*though there is a temporary precautionary fix being suggested:
session.upload_progress.enabled = Off

pretty bad. php's security team rates it 9.2 CVSS, and the community assessment currently puts it at 9.8 (both out of 10.0). it is full on remote code execution via a heap stale reference pointer

honest question: where does she even CLAIM that it was because she is black? it might be out there, but i haven't seen it. and even if she did, it wouldn't prove it
or was that just you projecting to put your spin on the story?

i am hoping this isn't true. it's been speculated for a while now that his daughter will be his successor
- a member of the kim family
- a female
- 13 years old
a dastardly combination for a world leader
🇰🇵 Rumors that Kim Jong Un is DEAD are exploding across social media...
But there is still NO credible confirmation that North Korea's leader has died.
Unverified claims allege Kim suffered a major health crisis, received treatment in Beijing and died, triggering speculation about a succession involving his daughter Kim Ju-ae.
Recent credible reporting, however, showed Kim publicly touring North Korea's new military museum just days ago.
What is confirmed today: his sister Kim Yo Jong says the border with South Korea is “very unstable” and Pyongyang is considering restarting loudspeaker broadcasts toward the South.
For now, the death story remains a rumor, while the sudden warning from Kim's powerful sister is very real.

they got Klobbs and KF7s!
BREAKING:
French police have encountered rioters and looters armed with AK47s and Scorpion submachine guns on the streets of Paris, Marseille and Lyon.
The information comes from the Le Journal du Dimanche journalist Laura Tchekov, who says that her newspaper has received this information from sources within the DGSI, France’s main internal security agency.
The weapons were carried by minors and young adults described as being part of organized crime groups but sometimes also close to the Islamist movement in France.
The journalist says that not all armed
rioters were arrested and that several of them remain on free foot.
It’s believed that police officers refrained from making arrests as they thought they could be both outmanned and outgunned at the moment and that hundreds of people were on the streets, creating a risk of a shoot-out that could have resulted in a large number of wounded and dead.
