Social media has kinda ruined whole generation. Men are out here drooling over women they'll never even meet, and women are stressing out over lifestyles they can never pay for. Husbands are losing interest in their own wives because they can't stop looking at strangers online, and wives are losing respect for their husbands because they're always measuring their normal life against someone else's highlight reel. Regular marriages now feel like total flops, loyal partners feel like they aren't enough, and cozy homes start to feel like traps. We've built a group of people who mix up basic lust with actual love, expensive stuff with true happiness, and random online likes with feeling good about themselves. And the scariest part is that people are messing up the genuinely good things they already have just because they're hooked on the fake lives of total strangers. Social media isn't just wasting your hours. It's actually training you to dislike your own life.
Which is worse... curious where we stand on important topics in the Lorcana community.

Ive Played Tinker and food chain goblins, angry druid, classic reanimator, Storm, Tooth and Nail, and Splinter Twin. Ive played Stax in vintage and was even an enjoyer of battle of wits in standard. Ive played turbo fog and wake. I very much enjoy non linear Gameplay and alternate win conditions. The book ban for me is more than just a ban, its a precedent for how RB intends to shape their game. Im not saying this cant just be a one off, but if this is their current train of thought and the general direction the conversations go behind closed doors, its most definitely a worrying concern as far as potential future trends go. I hope against all reason that im super wrong here and this isnt a smoking gun scenario, but I. Truly believe thats exactly what this is. I think they intend for lorcana to be exactly this indefinitely and for me, thats just not ok in any capacity.
I love lorcana. I love competition. I love meeting new people and I genuinely have fun playing cards at events way more than I enjoy playing virtually. But I just dont see how we get to continue loving these things if RB is hellbent on stifling creativity.

One of the interesting things I've noticed about the Malfoid trend is how in most renditions of her she has little makeup compared to what is popular among contemporary women.
Another interesting aspect is how little these images rely on overt sexualization. She's generally wearing a Hogwarts uniform or otherwise conservative clothing. Her attractiveness comes primarily from her face, femininity, expressions, and personality rather than revealing clothing or exaggerated physical features.
And then there's her tsundere personality. She's arrogant, smug, competitive, and somewhat bratty, which creates an interesting contrast with her delicate feminine appearance.
The popularity of Malfoid is revealing the difference between what a substantial number of men actually find attractive and the beauty standards that women tend to promote among themselves.
She's generally depicted as beautiful without appearing to be trying to attract anyone. She's just going about her business, being her arrogant, tsundere self.
The Malfoid character is becoming an informal experiment in what men find attractive when they're free to create their own idealized female character.

The pokemon unite servers going down is the exact reason people should NOT pay for in game purchases. All those people who paid for skins and to unlock characters are watching their hard earned money go down the drain. I feel bad for the unite community, but at least its not for nothing. Its a great example of how worthless investing in skins and lootboxes truly is.
This really sucks because as someone who has played League of Legends since raidboss Taric top was a thing, I have so many skins... inserting league in the place of unite is a terrifying thought. Imagine one day jumping on the internet and finding out league servers are shutting down and the tens to hundreds of skins owned by players are just gone. Those dollars invested... just dust on the wind.
I used to think that selling skins was the most ethical way to bring in money for a video game... Ive now changed my opinion of that considering companies can just pull the rug out from under feet at any given moment and just pretend like thats OK because of some forced ToS you HAVE to accept to be able to participate in the game.
I feel like the land conversation surrounding MTG v other games resource system is just silly. Magic itself has done everything in its power short of removing them from the game to minimize their existence. They add abilities to them and even straight up make them spells. Come on
After seeing how DLC Bangkok went, I think its time RB makes the hard decision necessary to create a more healthy format and gives us a ban. After seeing a circle on circle finals, obviously the only correct decision is to ban Hiram Flavorsham from core. Its too good and toxic.
Its so hard being a TL fan these days. It feels like being a Vikings fan. Were probably always showing up to the main event, but we wont be performing. Its so depressing.
Just checking. Are we done villainizing the concept of sideboards yet or are we going to continue to LARPing like everything is fine because we got a new set?
See everyone in Tampa! Let get it crackin! Just kidding, I have no idea what to play. But im stoked for some infinity!
One of the things I liked the most about street fighter 2026 is how well they showcased the power of the fighters that were selected for the tournament. What I mean by that is we get to see balrog completely walk all over Ken without damaging Ken's character. Again we see it with E Honda. They do such a good job of highlighting the power of those slaps and showing the size difference between him and Ryu. Dhalsim... it can be super hard to make a stretchy character seem serious and not overly comical, but they did a good job IMO of highlighting his fighting prowess without just putting him there because they need bodies. It sucked we didnt get nearly as much Vega and Guile screen time as we probably should have. Zangeif was probably too short lived to really get anything out of. Akuma was pretty Dope. Felt more like a cameo than an actual character/plot point of the movie, but i liked the way he was portrayed. M Bison was great, loved his portrayal, although they could have done more. Chun Li could have and probably should have been more fan servicey. Thats like her entire schtick and considering how campy this movie was it just felt flat. Really hoping for a second movie to see the Cammy development. Glad we got Dan in a played down role so he can get a decent pop in a sequel if they make one. All in all this is what I wanted from a movie based on a video game like this. Cheesy corney movie with good action and iconic characters. The downfall is it just felt rushed. The storyline wasnt cohesive IMO, and at no point was anything logical. It felt like they just took random scenes and spliced them together an called it a movie. It has its good and bad moments, but overall im glad we got it. Hopefully they make another one and they take better care of the story. One final gripe from me, how on earth did we not get a Guile sonic boom or a Dhalsim fire breath... feels bad from a movie who hardcore fed into being campy as its identity.
I think card game ecosystems are super interesting. Like both casual and competitive players are needed for a healthy community. But the 2 groups are oil and water. The casual/social gamer has no desire to actually improve their game. Do they wanna get better, sure, everyone wants to grow to some degree, however they overall lack the drive to push themselves to the bare minimum of what we would consider competitive play. And players that take the game seriously, who want to win, never really grow in an environment with casuals because theyre not tested. You only get better by playing with better players.
The weird part is how we live in a world where competitive players tend to drive the casual players away. No one likes showing up to league week after week knowing theyre going to go 0/4 or 1/4 or whatever. Why would they bother? And honestly, thats valid. As a competitive player myself if I knew I couldnt win walking into a room, I just simply wouldnt do it. Id go do the thing thats more fun that I could win at. Now ccqs and dlcs, obviously this is a different animal because these are top teir competitive events.
So how do you nurture a casual environment while still allowing the competitive nature of people to thrive? In short, i dont know. But we really do need to find a way, because its clear that this is becoming an epidemic everywhere. We get on average 6-12 people a week for league. We used to get upwards to 20, but a ton of people just stopped coming to league because they just didnt put in time or effort to grow. And to be fair, alot of these people are playing their first card game. Thats hurdle in and of itself.
I like to think that heroic / Coconut is a good way forward to help foster a casual group, sort of akin to commander in magic, but I have kind of a gripe with coconut. I dont like that its a 60 card format. It for sure needs to be extended to at least 80 cards. Theres not nearly enough variance in 60 cards for a singleton format when essentially every deck can play 2 to 3 copies of cards that serve the same function. It feels more like an illusion of singleton than actual singleton. However, with that being said, I have been greatly enjoying coconut and really want to see it thrive wether we get the deck minimum raised or not. Kudos to RB and the people who tested it early, youve done good so far, keep it up.
The TLDR of this post is ultimately, I dunno how casuals can exist. Even the most casual formats end up getting sharked. We had a tournament last year where people could only play frozen cards, what happened? Well the same thing that happens with any event, people who were competitive showed up with tuned lists designed to win, and the people that wanted to play their cute fun cards lost. Theres gotta be an answer to this, I just dont know what it is.
Just played a Bo3 with Circle. Opponent plays turn 1 don karnage both games, turn 2 ursula both games and successfully hits akood both games, plays turn 3 Lenny 1 game, and turn 3 ursula another game, both hit songs. Turn 4 in game 1 he plays a turn 4 Lenny hitting a song, and in game 2 plays a turn 4 merlin. I won both games.
This is not an anomaly. The same thing happens when I play against steel decks and they have strength or whatever every turn to answer singers. Eventually ill just get there before you.
I feel super confident in my assertion that midrange disruption strategies are NOT the way forward this season. This set has shaken things up and made things cool and given us new toys to play with in our favorite archetypes, but when the dust clears and the format settles, it'll still be the same format we just escaped from. Yellow/green decks dominating, purple green retro going over the top of over the decks, the only real new contender well get is B/Y control and as long as you have a game plan for how to approach that matchup, that too will just fall to the wayside. B/Y detectives is pretty good, but no better than P/S is/was.
Im pretty much done with my core "testing" unless something somewhere ends up presenting itself that I need to learn.
Time to look to the only real formats that matter, Infinity and the nut... and practicing sideboarded games.
