With all of my talk about the arrival and departure of the X-59, I can鈥檛 forget about the support aircraft that escorted her from Edwards Air Force Base!
About a half hour before the X-59 arrived, we welcomed NASA鈥檚 F/A-18D Hornet in its classic NASA paint scheme. It also departed about a half hour before the X-59.
NASA鈥檚 250th F-15 was the chase plane for the X-59, flying alongside her on the right during arrival and departing just behind her.
Finally, NASA鈥檚 Gulfstream was also part of the support aircraft. It looked like someone onboard was taking photos of everyone on the ground during its arrival. I鈥檇 be curious to see what that looked like with so many of us excitedly waiting for their arrival!
It was really awesome to witness this. It might not seem like much to some, but I feel like we were witnessing a little piece of aviation history as these aircraft make their way east. What a cool moment to be there for!

The 27 Merlin engines of SpaceX's Falcon heavy propelling the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope off the pad in slow motion (20% speed).
While I'm really proud of this shot, a few stops lighter and I think it could have done that beautiful fairing justice. Definitely the one that got away for this launch.
All that being said, it's also a capture that I could only dream about two years ago. Grateful everyday I get to be out there and give stuff like this a try.

This is crazy! All the raw files from Artemis II are available to ANYONE! I did a few edits to some of these and I'm just in awe that this is possible. I didn't crop any of these as I wanted to preserve the original feel. Try this out for yourself!
sometimes i wonder if i'm truly a photographer, then i realize that i just drove out to take a niche format dusk photo of a fucking ice machine
