đźAnnouncing the Lantern Summit in Shanghaiđź
In 2025, more new medicines launched first in China than anywhere else on Earth.
That has never happened before.
Drug development has two simultaneous accelerators:
âąâ â AI is collapsing design (weeks instead of years).
âąâ â China is collapsing development (physical iteration speed).
Here is why that matters, and what Western biotech is missing: đ§”
My entire feed today: the complex phenomenon of hot girls in SF and the emerging crisis of novocaine masculinity. August has got to be a slow news cycle.
Evidence of cellular age reversal â evidence of physiological age reversal
And this is an important distinction!
Replying to @davidasinclair @JoinLifespan
You keep proclaiming you have the 1st FDA approved clinical trial of age reversal. That's false.
The language by the FDA to @lifebiosciences was to clear a Phase 1 clinical trial testing ER-100 in people with certain optic-nerve diseases. Nothing about reversing age.
Any changes observed for the individuals in the trial for their eye disease is not the same as reversing age.
You can say it's the first human trial of partial epigenetic reprogramming, but apparently that's not enough for you.

1/ Today, @Primero_ai is announcing its public launch and a $12m seed, one of the largest seed rounds in LatAm.
Primero is the AI transformation company for Latin America's largest enterprises.
I canât believe Claude doesnât have an index where I can see all the questions Iâve asked in a thread and jump between them easily. All the Chrome extensions I can find are terrible too, so I'm just endlessly scrolling.
Rlly wishing I could have watched the Spain game. Helping me feel slightly better about the Brazil and Morocco 1-1
Iâm fascinated by the psychology of people who operate at top-level, competitive, high-pressure environments.
Rory McIlroy is such an interesting example of insane resilience. Wins his first major at 22. Goes 10 years without a major. Loses the masters 15 times (with a crazy amount of pressure for a grand slam) until he finally gets it in 2025 and then again this year.
Thereâs a prime documentary where he talks through each hole in the final round and itâs so interesting to hear what was going through his head!
Wore a Ralph Lauren shirt yesterday and got asked if I work on reinforcement learning. SF if undefeated.

After a long hiatus, I'm back to writing - starting with a very topical piece.
Why are colorectal cancer rates spiking in the young?
The usual answers are true: changes in diet, exercise, environment.
But there's also a much more direct player involved

Approved episode #2 out now: Geron
They trailblazed longevity biotech in the '90s, cloned telomerase, funded early hESC work - and after 34 years got the first telomerase inhibitor approved for a rare blood cancer.
Full story on the pod.
Great work!
Finding new medicines is getting more and more expensive, and AI won't help much unless we can generate physiological data at scale.
In our new preprint, @GordianBio extends the progress of the functional genomics community to run pooled in vivo screens at scale, in a way that answers questions about physiology and therapeutic potential.
We show screens in mice and horses, fibrotic and degenerative disease, with a framework for physiological predictions validated in human ex vivo tissues.
Very proud of @v_sontake, @vkartha88, Neety and the rest of the team. Tweetorial follows:

AGI timelines are accelerating dramatically. The promise of many working in the field is the ultimate health impact to humanity including cures to cancer and significantly increasing healthy lifespan. But how? Join the first Summit on the Convergence of AI and Longevity!
