Very honoured to have received such tremendous doctoral training. Thank you for all your support over the last five years @carterjmike. Onto the next adventure!
The very first graduate student to join the lab is leaving the nest. Congratulations to Dr. St. Germain (@_LauraStGermain) on a successful doctoral defence! It’s been an amazing 5 years working and learning with you.

We want an undistorted comparison of internal and external focus with an eye on understanding when focus is most important. It’s called Many Motor Labs and we invite you to join us on this project. DM me for more information. @NASPSPA #OpenScience manymotorlabs.org/

Friends, it would be absolutely *fantastic* if you were adequately powered to pursue a d = .30 with a sample size of N = 12 per group (with α = .05, 1-β = .80). Unfortunately, you need N = 176 per group. Stay critical.

A well-written scientific paper does not build up suspense, it blasts the main results in at least 7 ways, starting with the title. The main results are also stated in the abstract, the introduction, the results section, the discussion, the conclusions, and of course the figures.

New preprint! 📢 We tried to reproduce every power analysis reported in three motor behavior journals between 2019 and mid-2021. If we allowed ourselves to make plausible guesses for missing parameters, then 43% were reproducible. Link: doi.org/10.51224/SRXIV.184 A thread…🧵

Number 1 is a big one and why recipe book statistics courses are not helpful when training the next generation of scientists. Statistical thinking is critical!
