Nigeria's version has another divide: credit. In our Yaba merchant data (n=114 observations), 61% of traders already take transfers as their main payment, so they're on the formal rails. But only 6 named a bank as somewhere they borrow, against 13 for cooperatives and 11 for family and friends. They're using the formal system to get paid, but it isn't lending to them…

I’ve attempted to run at least 25 WhatsApp groups of different themes and interests, and none has the survival rate of a soccer group! Chaotic, dramatic, yet extremely entertaining and self-governing, and the way absolute strangers bond in there is something!
