Rule of thumb: If you call something unsuccessful, show what it failed to achieve. If you call it successful, show what it actually achieved. Temweyogeza, ba dear. 😊

📢 Sometimes Africa really is a country. Or a group chat? Different flags but… remarkably familiar experiences. 🤔
I see many South Africans asking why smart, articulate, educated and capable young people with private-sector or civil-society experience are not going into politics. The answer is simpler than you think. 1. The moment you take on a real political role, you are designated domestically as a “politically exposed person” under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. Schedule 3A covers party leaders, ministers, premiers, executive mayors and a long list of senior positions. Banks then have to dig into your source of wealth, get senior approval to keep dealing with you and monitor you more closely. For someone used to working for your money and living a normal financial life, that extra layer of scrutiny is a real deterrent. Simply put, the system is unintentionally manufacturing the current list of options for voters. 2. Party funding is extremely concentrated. A handful of big donors and public money tied to existing seats dominate the system. Michiel le Roux’s Fynbos entities have poured hundreds of millions into the DA over the years, sometimes accounting for nearly half of its declared donations in a quarter. The Oppenheimers have been major funders of several opposition parties. For its part, the ruling party has relied heavily on party-linked trusts, individuals and investment vehicles. The problems caused by their running out of funds are well known and long-standing. My point is this: if you're a new or outsider voice, you'll struggle to compete with those longstanding relationships and established political networks. 3. On top of that, the personal trade-offs are steep. Corporate salaries and career mobility usually beat political pay. 4. Party structures reward loyalty over pure competence. Never mind the risk of being pulled into scandals, the unending and unforgiving public scrutiny, and the limited room to actually change things; it makes politics a bad deal for anybody with real options. So, capable people aren’t staying out because they don’t care. Many are staying out because the incentives, rules and structures make it a low-return, high-risk choice compared with the private sector.

👏 Talk that talk!
I get nominated for some 'influential young Africans' recognition every 3 business days, and every time I get an email, my reaction is "It's us! If Africa is not working, it is us!" There's not very much joy in recognition for me until we make Africa work. We need Africa to WORK.

Add in a court hearing or police appointment and you will regret the day you became Ugandan.
in Ug, you shouldn't schedule 2 important tasks on the same day if u have to go to the bank, go to hospital or have an important meeting, u never know how long that will last, and therefore shouldn't schedule another important thing u just have to clear the rest of the day

Most of us never read the laws that shape our taxes, our businesses or our rights... @CivicCoded is trying to change that with plain-language civic info. Found it, liked it, sharing it: civiccoded.com

I keep thinking about Billie’s reality check to Stuart in Italy: "You don’t just take down a president, you take down a policy agenda and the stock market and the dollar." That whole episode, "Phony Negroni" was excellent. 👏🏾😊
Because I'm a politics junkie and a Keri Russell fan (THE AMERICANS!), I've watched every season of Netflix's The Diplomat so far, without loving it. But the end of this season's finale was actually brilliant and I did cheer out loud when Hal came out. #sorrynotsorry

Uganda’s creative industries contribute an estimated 3% of GDP, with significant untapped commercial potential. Looking forward to speaking at #AUMEX26 and engaging in conversations around business development, strategic growth, and building a more competitive, commercially viable, and sustainable creative economy. 14th Nov 2026 | Kampala 🇺🇬 #AUMEX26 #CreativeEconomy #EastAfrica

What monthly income would you need if work stopped tomorrow? Write it down: that’s your number. This was the key message in my Rotary presentation. Thank you for having me @KlaSpringers 😊

This is Not True. On the Contrary. JP Morgan Launched a New Emerging Market Bond ETF in September (Uganda included plus many more )that in the next 2-3 years they plan to buy Uganda close to 4 billion USD worth of Ugandan Bonds. Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia and likes are included.
Money hates noise! JP Morgan, a global leader in investment banking, commercial banking, financial transaction processing and asset management pulled about $800m from Uganda’s bond market after the Newyork times published a story on MK’s basement mess. Any lessons learnt?

I have come back to this headline almost 50 times. The fact that it is not on their Africa page but their main page. The sensational language, the provocative comparison. Knowing the authority Bloomberg has and its power to affect investment decisions. This is an economic hit piece.
Uganda is tapping its nearly $7 billion in reserves to lessen the blow of a plunging shilling, which is the world’s second-worst-performing currency this month after Iraq’s dinar. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

£5000 two months ago vs today has a difference of 3.5 million Ugandan shillings. That’s bonkers.

🤔 The real win would be linking it to actual operators and clear booking pathways so the interest converts.
Perfect idea. Positioning the Uganda High Commission in London as a hub for @JulzKagwa and the Uganda Tourism Board would give us a strong, coordinated platform to promote the country freely across the UK and through our embassies in Europe. This kind of targeted marketing can drive more high-value visitors, boost foreign exchange earnings, and help establish Uganda as the next major tourism destination - the Pearl of Africa that travellers are actively seeking. @wekesa_amos

Once upon a time some Ugandans were arrested & thrown behind bars for exposing the rot in Parliament. Well today, @DailyMonitor carries a headline that says perhaps those people were not wrong after all. The issues that the IGG has raised are the same issues that these innocent & well meaning Ugandans were arrested & thrown behind bars for pointing out. If you’re one of those Ugandans who were arrested for Marching To Parliament, pat yourself on the back & smile because you always were on the right path. 😊
