Mortifying my flesh (opting for having frozen pizza in 30 minutes instead of at the Winco pizza counter immediately)
A prayer so performative it's drinking a matcha late and listening to Clairo on wired earbuds while reading feminist literature at the fair trade coffee shop.
The Bible does indeed have Jesus going to a man named John The Baptist, but no Larry the Lutheran. A difficulty for us, to be sure. Any pastors wanna weigh in? I don't know how to refute this one and I'm scared.
Almost hit a deer on the freeway this morning. It was well before sunrise and visibility was poor. Dude was taking his sweet time crossing the highway and I was still waking up. I saw him at the last second and somehow maneuvered around him without losing control of the car - I guess the swerve was tight enough. If I'd have hit him he'd probably roll up my hood and right through my windshield and I'd probably be cooked.
So, praise be to God for another day, and for reflexes that were unusually sharp given how sleepy I was.
One ought to dress respectfully for church. But here you are, all heated on the internet castigating some woman for seeking God. Perhaps she was just walking by and something compelled her to come in. Who knows, maybe if she had gone home to change, or else come back next Sunday, the urge would have dissipated and she'd never be back. You simply don't know. You ought to be praying to see that woman again in church rather than doing this.
Woman at church yesterday showed up in a sweatshirt and literal pajama pants. Wore her hood the entire service. I was absolutely appalled. I hate this whole, “came as you are” narrative the Protestant church preaches. Other religions wouldn’t let you in if you dressed so disrespectfully. Why is it only Christian’s that are held to this standard? That we must just accept everything?

And, of course, St. James speaks of this:

Aquinas harmonizes James and Paul by stating James is talking about being proved just. Same thing the Reformers argued.

It's a "means of grace"...but it's something *you* do to obey God?
Sorry, but you've got it backwards. God does the work, not you.
Plus if you're limiting it such that it can't justify or regenerate, it's not much of a means of grace, is it?
Luther saw baptismal regeneration as not only compatible with Sola Fide but intrinsically linked with it. We don't do anything to receive salvation in Baptism; we simply receive God's promises and the Spirit gives us faith to trust in those promises.
We only receive. We don't do anything.
And should my heart for sorrow break
My trust in thee can nothing shake
Thou art the portion I have sought
Thy precious blood my soul hath bought
Lord Jesus Christ,
My God and Lord, my God and Lord
Forsake me not! I trust thy word

David Wood embarrasses Jay Dyer for boasting that his Church compiled the canon, by pointing out that his (Dyer's) Church has different canons. Wood continue saying that if he want to get an official closed canon he has to go to the Catholic.

My wife and I were both blessed with being excellent amateur cooks. I hope to pass this on to our kids one day. It's saved us a lot of money, that's for sure.
Plus, if you know your wife is going through it and you have the budget, it's incredibly easy to pick up a couple of prime ribeyes from Costco and make the equivalent of a $220 steakhouse dinner for under $100. Vital skill as a man, let me tell you.
Emotions in worship are natural. But they are not the Holy Spirit. The issue with cowo is that it's closely tied with the theology that those goosebumps you get are you feeling the Spirit, and that if you don't get them, the Spirit is absent, or else there's something wrong with you.

I am biracial. I have never suffered an identity crisis for my entire life. My identity is in Christ, not my ethnicity.
Replying to @farmingandJesus
it is. Bad for the kids. They will suffer an identity crisis for the rest of their life.
