I'm discovering ao3 is like a great wall for keeping animals contained because ever since it came down I'm seeing more and more insane takes, like "let's report fanfic TO GOOGLE" yes let's risk the existence of fanfiction by bringing legality into it

AO3 IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS
they do not get paid for any of this. be kind, patient, and respectful to the volunteers who work hard to keep ao3 running, fight against censorship, and protect writers, fanfics, and people’s rights/freedom to write whatever they want, however they want

sorry that ya'll didn't find fic worth engaging with until heated rivalry and still find it kind of embarrassing. me and my fellow perverts however have tended to this garden with love for decades so i'd appreciate if you could put some respect on this staple of fandom thanks.

this is 1000% true and comes down to the fact that names are transparent to the reader (much like pronouns), while epithets of this kind explicitly call attention to themselves. unless that's specifically your goal (or unless the character doesn't know the other character's name)

they will try to turn your heart against pride & prejudice 2005 but it is culturally immovable. an imperfect adaptation and a perfect film. the experience is magnificent in every sense of the word. you will have to crucify me for it.
