TL;DR: - Open-weights MoE coding model: 40B total, 2.5B active, Apache 2.0 - Built from scratch in under 4 months mostly by their automated research system, the Eureka Machine - Main tricks: a sparser shape, the output layer quantized to 4 bits, and custom kernels, including a fused decode kernel on M4 and M5 Macs - Beats MoE peers like Qwen3.6 35B-A3B on agentic coding: Terminal-Bench 2.1 54.9 vs 44.9, SWE-bench Verified 74.2 vs 73.4 - Dense Qwen3.8 27B still wins on coding, with Terminal-Bench 73.0 vs 54.9 - 125+ tok/s on an M4 Pro MacBook and 150+ on a 64GB RTX Spark at short context; about 69 tok/s on average across a 128K session
Introducing Flint, @Recursive_SI’s first model: a fast local coding model built with our automated research system, the Eureka Machine. • Best-in-class fast local coding • Up to 2x faster than comparable models: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro, 150+ on RTX Spark • Built from scratch in under 4 months Private, unmetered intelligence on your own machine. Open weights available now on @huggingface, run it locally on your favorite framework or try it for free on @opencode or @pidotdev.

The most revealing part of this conversation between Jon Stewart and Jacob Coxon wasn't Coxon's warning about A.I. doom, but his description of A.I. utopia, and Stewart's incredulous response. I wrote about it — and Francis Fukuyama's "Last Man," and A.I. easily solving the problems that bedeviled my father's field of mathematics for decades — here: nytimes.com/2026/10/18/opini…

Oh, to be clear, I will very happily keep making videos long past when LLMs can generate clear explainers. I hope people have found value in my videos because they explain things clearly, but that's not even the highest-order bit for what makes a video land, in my opinion.

I have a few problems with this book (AGI Chronicles), but then it also includes incredible insights like these.

rediscovering good practices from first principles impressive
We keep improving performance across Claude, and you may have noticed it starts responding sooner! Claude Code now gzips the conversation it sends on every turn, so it reaches the model faster. Cloud sessions also start up as soon as you start typing.

Picked up a copy over the weekend from a bookshop and so far, I have mixed feelings. Is anyone else reading this? Wdyt?

Reminder that an anonymous Theranos employee discussed the whole fraud (without naming the company) on a popular subreddit years before the WSJ broke the story

guy who lives among some of the world’s most interesting sociopaths: these sociopaths are boring
nathan fielder has an almost incomprehensible film making talent and he’s wasting it on some quite boring subject matter. there is nothing very interesting about elizabeth holmes or billy evans

how do you fine-tune a decision model on your own data? in these two notebooks, you'll learn: • how to prepare the training data • how to fine-tune our d1-3B decision model • using @UnslothAI and @huggingface TRL all within 30 minutes on a free-tier GPU. unsloth: github.com/Liquid4All/cookbo… TRL: github.com/Liquid4All/cookbo… ps: how adorable are these halloween kitties? 👻

Changing jobs as a remote work robs you of the rituals that mark the occasion. Packing and unpacking boxes, giving and receiving badges, or the goodbyes then hellos - all nowhere. In lieu of a that, I re-painted and rearranged the office. New surroundings for a new start.

You're not going to believe what happened today. I am incredibly happy to welcome @_jphwang back at Weaviate! 🤩
An era seems to be over with the last weaviate devrel leaving the building. Kudos for an epic run 🫡

I'm really interested in the field of coding agents, coding *with* agents, and **agent experience** (AX). For better or for worse, agents are changing how code is produced. I've always had a keen interest in developer experience, and AX is a natural extension of that.

So I'm starting a new role at @weaviate_io as a Lead Developer Experience Engineer - with a focus on agent experience. I will say more about what the heck that all means; but for now, I wanted to relay my gratitude for my previous role, and excitement about the opportunity.
