No kidding, Dan. And you still don’t get it. Just plow the snow, get the pools open and the potholes filled. The referendum failed miserably because of the inflated sense of self-importance of Council. Just clean the parks.

For my Pittsburgh followers, the Allegheny County ballot measure to expand County Councilors from part-time to full-time and give them more staff is losing bad. NO - 68% YES - 32% It's over.

One of the larger and more consequential splits in the history of corporate America brought to you by @FT CVS is splitting up its name-brand drugstore business from Aetna and Caremark. Could be announced as soon as Q3 results tomorrow.
FT Exclusive: CVS Health is plotting a break-up of its $117bn healthcare empire, separating its retail pharmacy chain from its insurance business in what would be one of the largest corporate splits of all time. ft.trib.al/ZlfmGt9

"No Kings" but pay for our staff, our vehicles, our health insurance, and whatever other "fringe" benefits we want. Vote NO on this tomorrow.
I never tell others how to vote or what choices to make in life. I just explain how I feel and then have a discussion. For me, anything that includes “fringe benefits” and expanded perks for Allegheny County Council is a firm NO. Any member pushing for “yes” is a gluttonous pig.

I think what makes these fake Apple Pay scam/prank situations so emotionally volatile is that they combine several nightmare scenarios for the victim into one attack. For starters, you're getting robbed in public. This is embarrassing, especially for a man. Second, you're on camera unexpectedly for a large audience. This should be illegal. It's not, but it should be. Third, you're being played for a fool because you don't really know how the technology of Apple Pay / contactless payments works, and someone is exploiting you over it. So we end up with a scenario where some random guy--in this case, a middle-aged man stocking the frozen pizzas--is getting robbed, humiliated, and made to look foolish by what is likely a teenage mulatto who's exploiting a type of "I'm not touching you" loophole in the social contract, where the pizza guy would go to jail for a long time if he punched the scammer because ultimately the prankster (a) hasn't stolen anything, and (b) hasn't laid a finger on the victim. It creates a real 'naked in front of the whole class' simulation where over 7 billion people will have permanent access to an episode of "This is what the pizza guy would look like if someone were robbing him using a technology he's too old to understand. See, look how mad he is over the IDEA of losing $10! Look how stupid he is! They didn't even take any money!" This is a worst-case scenario for the victim. Most people are not designed for this. Complete public humiliation, absolute demoralization, no rightful recourse in the eyes of the law, no way to take back what has been stolen from you because no money was actually taken; only your dignity and sense of self-worth. This is what happens to actual Americans in 2026 who still try to live by following the rules, working hard, and sticking to the script. They get publicly humiliated by 90 IQ mystery meat ethnics exploiting them for content to earn shitcoins with which to gamble on prediction websites.

A hurricane? Named after a disastrous Vice President? How original.

France: Violence and rioting, tied to ongoing protests, have recently occurred in France and may continue. The French government has indicated they will take steps to curb "illegitimate" protests, while those organized by groups such as trade unions would be allowed to proceed. Given the heightened concerns, avoid demonstrations and areas of unrest. Stay away from areas with large crowds or significant police activity. Numerous groups submitted plans for protests on Saturday, October 24. Americans in Paris for the NFL game on Sunday, October 25 should also exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings. While permits may be filed for demonstration routes, last-minute changes can happen and protests can occur outside planned routes. Recent demonstrations were violent and involved heavy property destruction, uncontrolled looting, and attacks on police. Police responded with crowd control methods including tear gas. In Orléans, media report significant marches and protests planned for Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. Curfews in parts of France, including some neighborhoods in Paris and the vicinity, might continue. Curfew decisions are made locally, can be implemented with short notice, and restrict gatherings and free movement to some public landmarks. More at fr.usembassy.gov/security-al…

Chris Carter calls the Paris riots “overhyped nonsense”, but WTAE is no longer sending Andrew Stockey to Paris to cover the game for safety measures. Hmm 🤔 Chris Carter is a clown, and I’m thrilled everyone knows it.
