BY 2035, AI AGENTS COULD OUTNUMBER HUMANS 100 TO 1. Read that again !!! Huawei is projecting up to 900 billion active AI agents by 2035. For comparison, the world is expected to have roughly 9 billion people around then. That means potentially 100 AI agents for every human. And these aren’t just chatbots sitting around answering questions. The vision is for agents that can: perceive → reason → make decisions → use tools → act. That changes the conversation completely. We’ve spent the last few years asking: “Which AI model is smarter?” The next question might be: “How many AI agents are actually operating around us?” Imagine millions or billions of specialized agents handling research, software, business operations, customer service, logistics and countless other digital tasks simultaneously. The internet could eventually become less like a place humans browse, and more like an environment where AI agents are constantly interacting with other AI agents. And here’s the wild part: We’re still at the beginning of the agent era. Huawei’s projection is a forecast, not a guaranteed outcome. But even the scale of the prediction shows where some of the biggest technology companies think this is heading. The AI race might not be about building one superintelligent machine. It might be about creating billions of agents that can act on their own.
