Assyrians will not stay silent. Why does the @kurdistan government have a problem with Assyrians speaking up? And why are they so worried about the diaspora? My message to every Assyrian, watch this video, share it and listen.

Decades of war ravaged Assyro-Chaldean children in Iraq. After ISIS, many lost absolutely everything—their parents, their family homes, and their futures. Today, the boys survive in a monastery while the girls stay with nuns.
Yet, no one in the West has marched for these innocent children. Their faces don’t appear on posters in Western streets. Why has the world chosen to look away?
Recent statement made by the residents of Baghdeda:
We, members of the Christian community in Nineveh and residents of Baghdeda (Qaraqosh), announce our rejection of any attempt to reopen or bring offices of the Kurdistan Democratic Party into the city of Baghdeda.
We reaffirm our commitment to the right of the people of the area to manage their own affairs, preserve its character and identity, and return to the situation that existed in the area before 2014, without imposing any changes or creating a new reality on the ground.
We also affirm that our demands are peaceful and legitimate. If these measures continue, the people of the area will take a peaceful public stance by organizing demonstrations and protest activities to express their rejection.
Baghdeda belongs to its people, the Nineveh Plain belongs to its people, and our rights are not up for negotiation.

An image of the late Mukhtar of Rabatke village in the Nahla Valley, Zaya Barjam Khoshaba, was held by Assyrian protesters in Nohadra. He was an honourable man who refused to accept encroachments on his land and stood up to the aggressors. He was later assaulted by KDP security personnel, and the incident went unpunished.
His image serves as a reminder of the injustices our people face on their own lands.

A call to wide protest: Because of continued Kurdish encroachment on Assyrian lands in Duhok province, a protest is being planned by the Athra Alliance on July 6, starting at 10 AM.
The problem with these maps is that they give a false sense of majority. They show the ethnicity of villages or towns, not settlement or population size. So when small villages surround a large town, the map creates the impression that the town is tiny and insignificant, even if it is larger than all the surrounding villages combined.
Below, satellite imagery of the Southern NP in 1990. Just 35 years ago, the Shabaki villages surrounding Baghdede and Bartella were extremely small. If we applied this flawed methodology to the 1990 imagery, it would make Assyrians seem insignificant, despite the reality on the ground being otherwise.

On the 33rd anniversary of the treachery perpetrated by those whose veins run with treachery, who were raised on it, and the other, even uglier face of ISIS, disguised in the garb of nationalist oppression, while they are ready to pounce on the very people they claim to defend, the martyr Francis Yousef Shabo in Nohadra (Duhok) was assassinated. My friend and comrade, the Secretary-General of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, Yaqoub Korkis Yaqo, wrote:
It is the same hand that pulled the trigger and assassinated the martyr Francis, the martyr Peres, and dozens of other immortal martyrs.
It is the same hand that seized lands, encroached upon villages in Nala, Zakho, Sabna, Amadiya, Barwar Alita, and other areas, and planned and implemented demographic change in Ankawa and elsewhere. They considered our land spoils of war, coveted by greed and political ambition, not a homeland that holds our heritage and history.
It is the same hand that crafted the scenarios, created the political actors and puppets, placed them at the forefront of the political scene, and imposed them upon our people as their representatives against their will.
It is the same hand that disavowed the concepts of brotherhood, genuine political partnership, and our people's right to exist, and instead created voices and mouthpieces to bear false witness and distort the truth.
It is the same hand that pulled the trigger there and manipulated the ballot boxes here, stealing the will of our people and giving birth to foreign offspring, forcing them upon us.
It is the same hand that received aid from our people during times of hardship and distress, during times of struggle and sacrifice, only to repay them by subjecting them to further hardship and distress, confiscating their will, seizing their land, and covering up for the murderers of their youth, and so on…
Our right hand will forget our left if we forget, remain silent, become complacent, falter, or compromise… We will continue to remember and follow the same path until our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people attain their legitimate rights and preserve their existence on their historical land.
Montana Cafe has officially been reopened, after it was concluded that there was no discrimination against any Kurdish individual. The person had used their government connections in order to shut down the cafe and fabricate a story to save themselves. There was no official investigation, no reviewing of the camera footage, and no initial talks with the store owner. Just another day in the region of coexistence.
Those news outlets who spread false information won’t give any further updates about this event, and it will be used by the people to further justify any incitement and violent actions committed against non Kurdish groups in the region. A very common theme, and our people should’ve been prepared for this. If only we had an organised and professional media presence in the homeland to document these events..oh well.

The greatest strategic mistake was the addition of the word “Assyrian” to the COE.
While well-intentioned, it ended up creating an artificial divide between the “Assyrians” and the other communities.
Which internal & external forces seized upon to crystalize fake divides.

Assyrians don’t have their own bracket so naturally we’ll be matched with the closest ethnic group, who are Armenians. The fact that they have their own label, yet are still grouped with ‘Persians’, is very telling.
