🚨 UPDATE: The hypocrisy gets even worse. "Sir" David Bell, the very man behind the government's antisemitism in schools report, was accused of Islamophobia back in 2005 for singling out Muslim faith schools. As the then head of Ofsted, he warned that religious segregation could threaten social cohesion and questioned whether Muslim schools were adequately preparing children to respect other cultures. Fast-forward 21 years... We're now discussing a Jewish school's published commitment to preparing pupils to become "positive advocates for Israel", while Bell's new report goes far beyond political impartiality, proposing measures to silence legitimate criticism of Israel, presenting genocide as a matter of competing political perspectives, and sanitising the actions of the Israeli state under the guise of tackling antisemitism. If Muslim schools teaching a particular worldview raised concerns about social cohesion, why shouldn't schools explicitly preparing children to advocate for the State of Israel face the same scrutiny? Especially when Israel are carrying out a genocide in Gaza!! This isn't about Jewish or Muslim children. It's about the political indoctrination of ANY child, and the equally dangerous prospect of using education as a vehicle for state propaganda, suppressing legitimate criticism and sanitising atrocities. It has absolutely NO place in our children's education, no matter which religion, ideology or state it seeks to serve. If this is seriously where we're at, we may as well stop calling it the Department of Education, and call it what it is: the Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. #GazaGenocide #FreePalestine @NEUnion @educationgovuk @andyburnham theguardian.com/education/20…
I'm not going to name the school, but the @BBC's coverage of the antisemitism in schools report featured interviews with children from a Jewish school. Here's the rub, though. The school's own published curriculum explicitly teaches Zionism, celebrates the establishment of Israel and describes preparing pupils to become "positive advocates for Israel" at university. It even references bringing in organisations such as StandWithUs to prepare pupils for that advocacy. Now, let me be absolutely clear. There is nothing wrong with teaching Jewish history, culture or identity. And antisemitism must be challenged wherever it exists. But when children are actively encouraged to advocate for a particular state, rather than critically examine its history, policies and actions, surely we have to question whether this is education or ideological conditioning? And here's the staggering hypocrisy. We're being told that schools must exercise political impartiality when discussing Palestine, while a school can openly describe preparing children to advocate for Israel. Political impartiality cannot be a principle applied selectively, depending on which side of a conflict children are encouraged to support. And the BBC has a responsibility to scrutinise that distinction, not simply present children's views without examining the educational environment in which those views have developed. Children deserve an education that teaches them how to think, not what to think. @NEUnion @educationgovuk

99.9% of my timeline is saying that you can't say zionism is racism and then a random tweet pops up from an Israeli zionist that says the most racist shit imaginable
I’m a rabbi and I challenge you to understand the root of the olive season problem in Judea & Samaria. That is, the Palestinian rejection of Jewish sovereignty (with no right of return or refugee status). Every rabbi and every Jew should be acknowledging that this is the central issue. Each day that you do not, you endanger the Jewish people and the state of Israel. The rejection of the Jewish state as the indigenous homeland of the Jewish people is an eliminationist ideology. This is the ethnic cleansing of the BDS movement that you support, as a Jew. This is abhorrent and morally indefensible.

I've been to press and influencer screenings that allowed "positive reactions on social media" one day and actual reviews a few days after that. It's all just marketing. Review embargoes give press time to prepare but they also mean everyone is talking about it at the same time
I think I finally figured out what’s actually interesting about this whole CLAYFACE review situation. While everyone was focused on that one negative Rotten Tomatoes review, the official CLAYFACE account was already pushing positive Letterboxd reactions from people who saw the movie at public screenings. And that got me thinking. The critic embargo doesn’t lift until today. But DC was perfectly happy letting audience reactions hit first. So my theory is that they wanted Letterboxd to establish the conversation before Rotten Tomatoes did. Let people walk out excited, post their scores, talk about the movie, and then use those reactions as free marketing before the critics even get to publish. That actually makes a lot of sense. The Josh Wilding drama was probably just an unintended consequence of that rollout. One negative review slipped into the conversation early and suddenly everybody was arguing about embargoes instead of noticing the studio was already promoting audience sentiment. And that’s the part I find interesting. Because if studios are starting to care more about what Letterboxd users are saying before the Tomatometer even exists, that tells you something about where movie marketing is going. Rotten Tomatoes might not be the first battlefield anymore. And if I'm right, we're watching the decline of the movie critic in real time.

The UK has just legally classified antisemitism as a racism above other racisms and yet according to the political and media class we don't have a hierarchy of racism in the UK.

You can't break an embargo you didn't agree to 🤷‍♂️ doubly so if you go to a public screening that's before the press screenings
You’re breaking embargo. @Josh_Wilding
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Josh Wilding reviewed Clayface after paying to attend a public Odeon Scream Unseen screening, not a press event, and stated there was no embargo. comicbookmovie.com/batman/clayfac… x.com/Josh_Wilding/s… odeon.co.uk/special-screen…

Went on BBC Politics Live to discuss why Zionism is a racist ideology. The anchor and all three panelists looked like they were about to cry at the end. Very weird behaviour. Join the Green Party.

I'd love it if those who claim zionism is "complex" and "means many different things to different people" can just once be asked to describe how, in any of those many meanings, it doesn't lead to the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population of Palestine.

We Jews have no right to steal even one centimeter of our ancestral homeland from the people already living there, much less to expel them, mass murder them, erase them.

There is nothing antisemitic about saying zionism is racist. What IS antisemitic is conflating zionism with Judaism
I am ruling out our party entering into a national partnership with any party that is committed to a dangerous and antisemitic policy like the Green Party’s. Here is my letter to the Jewish Leadership Council and the Board of Deputies of British Jews 👇

Every night, Israeli soldiers fire bullets at the tents of displaced Palestinians for entertainment, and Palestinian civilians are killed day after day while sleeping inside their tents. Tonight, an innocent little girl Misk Al-Dalo was killed, becoming yet another victim of Israeli brutality in Gaza. Please share this video in every language so the world can see what is happening and this senseless killing of Palestinian lives can finally stop.

We know things we can't express. We feel things we can't put into words. Reducing games artistic worth to their sentences is insanity. The game is the talking! The music is the talking! The visual art is the art, it is not just the "presentation"

Yesterday, Israel’s official X account published a lengthy statement trying to cast doubt on the irrefutable evidence that Israeli assailants brutally beat an American journalist. Less than 24 hours later, it had to do the same thing again, this time over the brutal assault on European diplomats.

The whole concept of this is absurd on its face. If you don’t coordinate a visit to a tiny Palestinian village with the IDF, you are liable to be attacked by feral Israeli settlers
The IDF strongly condemns the severe act of violence that took place in the area of Taybeh, during which diplomatic representatives were attacked by Israeli rioters. Police forces and forensic investigators from the Judea and Samaria District are entering the area accompanied by IDF soldiers and will begin collecting findings and evidence, as well as taking testimonies, in support of an investigation that has been opened. The consulate's visit was not coordinated with the IDF. Such coordination is important to prevent incidents of this kind. According to a preliminary inquiry, no IDF soldiers were present at the scene at the time of the attack. The report was sent to the brigade operations room, which is designated to receive reports from security personnel only, and not from civilians. The operations room receives dozens of operational reports each day and responds only to authorized personnel, not civilians. It should be emphasized that other designated channels are available for civilians to submit complaints. All circumstances surrounding the incident will be examined.

“The consulate's visit was not coordinated with the IDF. Such coordination is important to prevent incidents of this kind.” Translation: our citizens constantly and de facto legally engage in mob ethnic violence against the indigenous population in the West Bank. So if you’re a foreigner and spending time with the indigenous population, it’s your responsibility to give notice to the local authorities, so they stop the settlers from coming to beat you up. Deranged is putting it mildly.
