Today, we’re launching @SPC’s $575M Fund IV to help founders push the frontier and build their life’s work.
The most important part of SPC has never been any single company or outcome.
It’s the caliber of people who keep showing up.
Today we’re announcing SPC Fund IV: $575M to help founders find their life’s work.
A decade of guiding founders through -1 to 0 brings @SPC to $2B in AUM and, more importantly, a 1200 member community of the world’s most talented technologists. We strongly believe that:
→ The person comes before the idea. At -1, generational founders are often busy reading, prototyping, discarding, and earning the right to their own conviction.
→ Ambition is social. The people you surround yourself with in the early days play a big part in inflecting your ambition.
→ Patience compounds. It is better to work on something you have deep conviction in rather than simply sprint at the first idea.
The quiet months we protect at the beginning have produced three funds in the top 10% of their vintages, and companies like @baseten, @GammaApp, @render, @GoodfireAI, @LumaLabsAI, and @profound. We are proud to have worked with all these founders in their -1 phase and beyond.
While we defined -1 to 0, we're no longer bound by it. Fund IV allows us to partner with companies well beyond launch.
We're doing this now because we've never seen a wider gap between what's possible and what's being attempted. Intelligence is abundant. The cost of trying ideas keeps falling, and problems that seemed insurmountable a few years ago are quickly becoming solvable.
To our members, to the founders who trusted us before anyone else did, and to the LPs who had conviction in our own -1 journey: thank you. This milestone belongs to you as much as to us.
To the builders looking to find your life’s work: let’s get started.

Every founder I meet worries about missing this moment.
The best worry about wasting it. There’s a difference.
It’s a waste to ignore how much the world has changed. It’s a waste to think you can capture value with pure software the same as 5 years ago.
It’s a waste to build something small.
We have seen the shift slowly and then very quickly at @spc.
Here’s who we want in the Founder Fellowship now: hardware tinkerers, mad scientists, obsessives, biohackers, people who build nuclear reactors in their basements.
People who want to get their hands dirty and touch grass and atoms.
If you are only building software, then please (for your own sake!) have a thesis that all your friends laugh at you about. Heresy is the price of ambition.
Then put yourself in the right environment to maximize your ambition.

MIT's largest programming competition, Battlecode, just kicked off. We're offering @Amplitude_HQ internships to this year's winning team.

HELLO BATTLECODE COMPETITORS
For the first time ever, there is a new Battlecode prize in addition to $$$ and Eternal Glory. Amplitude is offering all the members of this year's winning team Amplitude internships. That is right, winning Battlecode now guarantees you a career as well!
I've been wanting to offer this since competing in Battlecode from 2008-2010. We've finally figured out how to make it work at Amplitude and I'm really excited about it. Amplitude was born out of Battlecode- Curtis and I were on the winning team together in 2010 on team MyArchonDiedBellmanFordingtheStream (lol I know, don't judge). We're now a publicly traded company with $300M in revenue and 700 employees.
I'll be doing an AMA with prior Battlecode winners (Cory Li and Steven Arcangeli) on January 13th. I'm also giving a talk the day after finals on Sunday, February 2 at 5pm on how to beat the Ivy League in life success.
I can't wait to see what you all build in this year's Chromatic Conflict. Paint those maps!!!
Offer details and fine print: Software engineering internship for summer of 2025 at Amplitude offices in San Francisco. You must be able to work in the US and relocate to San Francisco. If you aren't able to work in the US or can't relocate to San Francisco, we'll try to work with you but we can't guarantee a role. Most interns receive full time offers to join the Amplitude team at the end of the internship. More on Amplitude here: amplitude.com/careers

"After a mean duration of 4.7 years of carbohydrate restriction-induced elevations in #LDL-cholesterol [mean 272 mg/dl, max 591 mg/dl], a metabolically healthy cohort of subjects on a ketogenic diet [#LMHR] did not have greater atherosclerotic burden than participants from a population based cohort with similar risk profiles but markedly lower [123 mg/dl] LDL-C."
And there was NO association was observed between LDL-C and Total Plaque Score

These data are PRELIMINARY... However, they should provoke an important conversation that NEEDS to happen.
Let's (all) be humble with respect to (1) the vigor/confidence of our conclusions (2) what we know, and what we don't, with respect to human physiology and lipid dynamics (and risk) in a new/understudied metabolic CONTEXT.
That said, we can separate academic questions from individual clinical management. Better safe than sorry. But each n = 1 is unique and should be treated as such.
#StayCurious. #LMHR #LEM
For the graphic, I've modified to make it a bit easier to understand:
- The X-axis represents study participants such that each column is one participant. They are ordered in ascending total plaque score (TPS), as measured by CCTA. No yellow column at a given point on the X-axis means a TPS = 0.
- The LMHR/Keto group is on the left and comparison/MiHeart group is on the right.
- There as 2 y-axes: The one on the left is LDL-C in mg/dl, with the jagged line being the LDL-C for each participant (really, should be dot plot since they are separate participants). Purple for LMHR/keto and Green for Miami heart. The Red, here, is the plaque score.

BREAKING: FIRST PUBLICATION NOW AVAILABLE —> doi.org/10.1016/j.metabol.20…
KETO-CTA (#LMHRstudy) vs Control (#MiHeart)
-🙏Please Share! 🙏-
METHODS – 80 Participants of #LMHRstudy fell within #MiHeart age range and were then matched 1:1 for age, gender, race, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and past smoking to asymptomatic subjects from the #MiHeart cohort.
PRIMARY ANALYSIS – High resolution heart scans (#CCTA) allowing for primary analysis of Total Plaque Score (TPS), Total Stenosis Score (TSS) and Segment Involvement Score (SIS)
RESULTS
The matched mean age was 55.5 years, with mean #LDL cholesterol of 272 mg/dL (max LDL-C 591) mg/dl and mean 4.7 years duration on a ketogenic diet.
🚨 There was no significant difference in coronary plaque burden of #LMHRstudy (mean LDL-C 272) cohort as compared to #MiHeart controls (mean LDL 123 mg/dl); nb: pre-KETO LDL-C in KETO group was 122 mg/dl
🚨 There was no significant difference in CAC (median and IQR) [0 (0,56)] versus [1 (0, 49)], p = 0.520
🚨 No relationship of LDL-C elevations and plaque
⚠️ NOTE: This analysis is on baseline scans, we will have further data on the Keto-CTA longitudinal analysis in the coming months. And — as always — please continue to work with your doctor.
🙏🙏🙏 Special thanks to everyone who got us to this first publication milestone. 🙏🙏🙏
Extra shout out to @nicknorwitz @DrRagnar @AdrianSotoMota @khurramn1 and, ofc, @BudoffMd
And a MASSIVE thanks to everyone who has contributed their money, time, and/or sharing to help us spread the word and make this research a reality!
(PS — this is unfortunately not Open Access as this wasn’t an option we had available for us — but the full manuscript will be published soon as a separate paper and *will* be open access)
