Alberta UCP MLA Shane Getson has officially resigned his seat.
(Much speculation about who it was that resigned, and Getson was high — but not too high — on my list.)

Wab Kinew calls on Ottawa to abolish Indian Act: "I'm not sure if that lines up with your vision of Canada, that we still have a race-based form of identification in this country. It's long overdue that we have a relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada that reflects who we are as Canadians today."

I can’t believe this needs saying but let me say it: when Trump claims Canada will “give us anything at this moment”
1) he’s not serious
2) he can’t be trusted
3) no deal is better because of 1 and 2

Replying to @TaffWelshBoyo
This is disinformation @TaffWelshBoyo. The late closures were due to late openings and electors still being in line when locations closed. Those individuals are entitled and were able to vote. This happened across the province. No voting places were open past 11:00pm.
“I don’t know that anyone is going to want to do a citizen’s initiative after this,” she said. “I put two questions forward that were part of a citizen’s initiative campaign, and everybody blamed me for it.”

A thought for all the campaign staff on the BC NDP, Con and Green teams.
Politics is a volatile and unpredictable business. 8 weeks ago none of this was imaginable. And those in government had “secure” jobs.
Things change on a dime and you all pivoted into campaign, left your families for an intense battle over competing visions.
And now some will lose jobs and others will gain them. It can seem unfair and sudden (and it is) but that’s what the people decide.
Know that even though you are all doing political jobs - you too are public servants. We don’t say that enough but it’s true.
Our democracy depends on well functioning political parties and the staff who make that happen.
Thank you all for your service, whether you won or lost.

Congratulations to @LDoerkson on becoming B.C.’s next premier. Serving this province has been the honour of a lifetime. I am so proud of the progress we've made and everything we've done together to make B.C. a stronger, fairer, more caring place. Thank you, British Columbia.
1. Start of election was all about new BC Con Leader
2. Only real media of Eby was gaffes
3. BC NDP panicked when polls went to the Cons, so they pivoted to the defensive on an election THEY CALLED
4. New gov
You know, sometimes being right isn't all it's cracked up to be 😅

While Albertans were focused on last week’s referendum, the UCP government quietly released its long-overdue year-end financial reports — more than 100 days after the June 30 statutory deadline.
The timing deserves scrutiny. So does the delay.
These reports are not optional reading. They are essential public accountability documents that tell Albertans how their money has been managed, where it has been spent, and whether the government has met its financial obligations.
Why were these reports delayed, and why has there been so little public discussion about it?
Albertans deserve transparency from their government, not just when it is convenient, but especially when it isn’t.
Read the reports yourself and draw your own conclusions:

Cuts have consequences.
These federal budget reductions will likely cost lives in Banff National Park. The dogs are an important part of keeping people safe in the backcountry.
Parks Canada is ending its 55-year search-and-rescue dog program in Banff National Park as the federal agency also prepares to reduce its workforce by about 500 full-time-equivalent positions nationwide amid government budget cuts.

Accountability post. Snuck in early for a plasma donation before the day gets started.
Did you know plasma donations can be used to help burn victims like those at CFB Wainwright?
If you can, book your donation with @CanadasLifeline to help those who need it 🩸
If you are willing and able, please consider booking yourself in for a blood donation appointment with @CanadasLifeline as soon as possible.
With the tragedy that unfolded in Wainwright and injured people being transfered to hospitals across the prairies, they will need it.
