My fic is part of the Horny Little Devils Reading Society’s selection of fics this week on Reddit. Along with my fellow authors, I provided a download so everyone can still participate during the AO3 Shutdown reddit.com/r/PolinBridgerton…

I'm not going to get into the discourse as to whether it's okay to post an author's work on gdocs without permission, but this? NOT okay. Do NOT repost an author's work onto another platform, at that point it just becomes theft!

I need like 98 people to take down their tweets that make fan fiction sound like ownership before it hits 100 and Anne Rice’s bones reanimate on all hallows Eve to end all our fun

just so everyone is aware, I'd never delete my fics off of any platform. I have fics out there I wrote when I was 14 years old and I refuse to delete them (no matter how poorly written) because I like seeing how far I've come as a writer. I write for myself and no one else.

What’s sending me abt this discourse is every single person I’ve seen arguing has been like “IM NOT OBLIGATED TO BE NICE TO WRITERS AND THEYRE CAPITALISTS FOR EXPECTING KINDNESS” like sure, you’re not obligated to do anything. You do sound like a dick tho. Anyway
clev (@colinsteeth) profile pictureclev@colinsteethOct 30
It’s so odd and disingenuous to me that people act like it’s against the spirit of fandom for writers to want engagement on their fics. The point of fandom is to connect with one another over shared interests. That’s literally what kudos and comments are, I write and you engage ?

Since a few kind people have asked: If someone has my fics downloaded, feel free to share! If you want something particular I can send them!

Alternatively if you see that an author does not want their stuff shared, don't? 🥰😍😘

Am I working on my current wips? Of course not. Am I going through the yuletide requests so I can write treats and start more wips? Why yes I am.

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

And I am blaming everyone who uploads AI-generated fics 🤷‍♀️ I don't even need any evidence. It's their fault.

We await our GLORIOUS WIFE’S return from battle 🫡 To honor her, we shall: - Finish our Kinktober fics (it’s still October for 2 more days!) - Prep for the annual November writing ritual formerly known by a name we do not speak. - Brainstorm new ideas with our mutuals. - Finally write that 200k slow burn we’ve been threatening to write since 2017. 🙃 - Revisit our 47 WIPs and maybe start a 48th. - 🕯️ Light a candle for the brave volunteers, who are fighting battles beyond comprehension. 🕯️ - Remember that kudos may be unavailable today, but the bonds forged in the trenches of writing are eternal!!! Stay strong, friends. She will return to us.
