Today, we’re raising awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) — a common, lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s ability to understand and use spoken language.#DLDDay 💜 Let’s break down barriers. 💚 Let’s build understanding.

Well said !
Can we stop saying “confined to a wheelchair” please. Our chairs empower us and offer us freedoms that do not confine us. The main thing that disables us is bad infrastructure and people’s attitudes. #LanguageMatters

A reminder that not all disabilities are visible. Just because someone doesn’t look disabled doesn’t mean they aren’t. You have no idea what someone is dealing with behind closed doors. Perhaps think twice before judging, questioning or challenging someone based on your own assumptions. Disability doesn’t have a look, and nobody should have to prove theirs to satisfy someone else’s curiosity.

Now that’s what I call progress ! Busses with 2 wheelchair spaces being manufactured up the road in Ballymena . Any chance @TFIupdates , @dublinbusnews we could see some of these buses on the roads in Ireland ? @AccessForAll7 @IrishWheelchair @DisabilityFed @TomClonan
New buses for West Yorks Weaver Network rolling off the production line in Northern Ireland. These buses with 2 wheelchair spaces and a buggy/ luggage space to be deployed in Leeds and Kirklees after their journey across the Irish Sea. Progress. 👏👏🙌

Today is World Ostomy Day and every year in Ireland it’s estimated that between 50-150 children undergo an operation to have a stoma fitted.

We believe that It is important to explain what a stoma is to children so they can understand that it is a normal medical procedure and not something to be afraid of.

Children may be curious or have questions when they see a stoma or stoma bag, and providing simple, honest information can help prevent misunderstandings. Teaching children about stomas can also encourage kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Seriously 😧
The lived experience. Now you have to sit in the pouring rain waiting for someone else to give you permission to get on a public bus. We’ve proposed buses that can accommodate two chairs but we’re told told “contracts signed and deals are done, we will consider it in the next procurement process” that’s at least 10-15yrs away!!!! Public transport Eh!!!!! #Exclusion #Disabilities @struggleiswheel @adayinmywheels

Tomorrow is World Ostomy Day. One Community – Stronger Together. @AccessKildare is celebrating how far we have come in making Kildare a more stoma-friendly county. 🌟 A stoma should never be a barrier to participating fully in community life.

Cycling on the road is dangerous. But cycles absolutely do not belong on the pavement with pedestrians. That's just shunting the safety issues over to the pedestrians.
