a qdoba i passed has a sign that says: free queso any day it’s a full moon in 2026. rare, possibly never seen before, crossover of astrology and fast food. very medieval: local eatery giveth free melted cheese on the full moon. genuinely sounds like a restaurant that a witch runs

Every time you go to the post office the person in front of you has a problem that has never happened before in all of history.

This case is very similar to one recorded by Joan Forman in 1978, in The Mask of Time:
Today’s mini #Uncanny case is really strange. Is this some kind of double doppelgänger situation? A time-slip? Or something we can sceptically explain? See you tomorrow for another spoonful of the spooky.  Uncanny Halloween Countdown | Listen on BBC Sounds and watch on YouTube

Wow who could have seen this coming. Good thing every school in the country gave kids laptops.
This is an incredible project: NBC News asked parents to check their kids' YouTube history during school hours — and the results show kids are spending huge chunks of the day watching videos that have nothing to do with learning nbcnews.com/specials/hooked-…

It wouldn’t even be hard to build; you just need some capacitors and a lot of copper wire.

Any take on reading needs to at least pretend to deal with the fact that never before in history have people had this much access to books, in this many formats, and for this cheap. You can read infinite books for free online or through library apps. Used books are everywhere.

i've 100% flipped my script on early halloween lawn decor. i realized that it signals to kids: we are open to trick or treating (obvious), but once a whole neighborhood does it, it signals: this is a trick or treating neighborhood. manifesting. i am obtaining a light up ghost.

Magic systems always use some ancient language like Latin or somethin but I think it'd be hilarious if spells just required like, regular English sentence structure "Get a bit warmer" "exactly 15 ice spikes" "shield that's kinda yellow and see through"

If I recall correctly, the reason half the characters explode around 2/3rds of the way through The Stand is that King hit a wall at that point in the book for months until he thought “what if half the characters explode”
Tips for dealing with writer's block: 1. Write a sex scene 2. Kill one of your characters 3. Both #1 and #2 * doesn't work as well for academic writing

Here's some news. For those who like that sort of thing, in the next few weeks I'll be publishing a new book of short stories, titled "Deep Waters: Ten More Tales from Norfolk and Beyond" — slightly eerie stories, full of a sense of place, and alert to the deep currents of history flowing everywhere around us.
