INDIA'S RAILGUN WORK MOVES INTO ITS OWN BUILDING AT PUNE
• DRDO's annual report records that construction of the Centre for Electromagnetic Launch Technology at Pune is complete, with handover due in 2026
• The centre holds a design wing, instrumentation hub, test range, capacitor bank and a large calibre railgun
• ARDE has already fired a 10 MJ railgun at projectile velocities above 2,000 metres per second
• The Aero India 2025 trailer mounted version used a 10 MJ bank of 25 modules at 400 kJ each and could fire about 30 rounds at three per minute
• ARDE Director Ankathi Raju has described an Army railgun running at about 11,000 volts and 2.5 mega amps, throwing a 50 kg projectile at near Mach 6 to nearly 200 km
• AVNL's Heavy Vehicles Factory at Avadi issued Expressions of Interest in September 2026 for the launch barrel assembly and the barrel platform
