Who wants to start a series of schools based around movement, stoicism and behavior? 1) Having kids move more than sit. 2) learning how to focus on what they can control and 3) that their behavior will determine their success? @PDScoach @ttillette @VerbalVitamins @TonyRobbins – at Newnan, GA

Character is selflessness. It's modesty. It's humility. It's willingness to sacrifice when necessary. And it's faith. And all those things, these things are what we call The Path. So stay on The Path.

Coaches spend a lot of time reviewing their players. How often do they review themselves?
Your communication. Your decisions. Your response to mistakes. The energy you bring when a session becomes difficult. These deserve your attention too.
Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle, developed by Graham Gibbs in 1988, offers six stages to help you learn from experience. Here’s how you can apply them to your coaching.
1. Description: What happened?
Choose a specific moment from your day. Perhaps a practice broke down or a conversation with a player became difficult. Describe what you observed before drawing conclusions.
2. Thoughts and feelings: What did you experience?
Were you frustrated, anxious, confident, or impatient? What were you saying to yourself? Consider how this influenced your tone, body language, and decisions.
3. Evaluation: What went well and what didn’t?
Recognise effective coaching as well as areas for improvement. Perhaps your explanation lacked clarity, but you listened well when a player questioned it.
4. Analysis: Why might this have happened?
Look beyond your first interpretation. Were your instructions too complex? Did the task suit the players? What evidence supports your explanation—and what might you need to ask them?
5. Conclusion: What have you learnt?
Identify what you would retain and what you could have done differently. Could you have demonstrated the task, asked a question, or allowed more time?
6. Action plan: What will you do next time?
Make one clear commitment: “Before restarting the practice, I’ll ask a player to explain the task in their own words.”
Try spending five minutes on one meaningful moment after your next coaching day. Then revisit your action plan after the next session.
Bring the same curiosity to your coaching that you want your players to bring to their development.

John Wooden shares a mindset that we all need to adopt every day.
"Yesterday is gone. That'll never change. Tomorrow is yet to be."
"How can you affect tomorrow? By today. That's the only possible way."
"I tried to get each player to make each day his masterpiece."
Don't get caught up in the past or worry about the future - make today your masterpiece.
Then he shared advice he gave to certain players:
"You've gotta put the past out. Good or bad, it's past - it'll never change. The only way you can affect the future is what you do today."
You can't change yesterday. You can't control tomorrow. You only have today.
Then he recited a poem by Vivian Larimore that he loved:
"I've shut the door on yesterday, its sorrows and mistakes. I've locked within its gloomy walls past failures and heartaches."
"And now I throw the key away to seek another room and furnish it with hopes and smiles and every springtime bloom."
"I've shut the door on yesterday and thrown the key away. Tomorrow holds no fears for me, for I have found today."
"Today is the day that counts. It's today."
The present moment is the only place where you can truly make a difference.
Don't carry yesterday's failures or worry about the unknown.
Focus on what you can control.

Great coaches are truth tellers.
“When you experience failure, you have two options. You can either tell yourself the truth or you can lie to yourself.” - Kara Lawson

"England had Argentina EXACTLY where they should have wanted them." 😔
@Tim_Vickery says Thomas Tuchel's substitutions were to blame for their defeat to Argentina 💔
#BBCFootball #FIFAWorldCup #ENGARG
You can't sit back against Argentina. You have to have some attacking threat on the field. Tuchel messed up by going to a back five so early. Argentina are not going to be knocking in the same crosses as Mexico. Messi can unlock you if you sit back. #engarg – at Newnan, GA
