🚨 NICOLLA CLARKE/STEVENSON FROM KILMARNOCK SLOWLY STARVED HER DOG TO DEATH & SEVERELY NEGLECTED ANOTHER A dog was left to slowly starve to death inside her own home, while another was found severely neglected and at risk of suffering the same fate. In December 2024, Roxy, a spaniel-type dog, was taken to a vet after being found dead. She weighed just 6.4kg, with the vet believing she had already been dead for several days before her owner, Nicolla Clarke, noticed. A post-mortem concluded Roxy had died following prolonged starvation and distress. Inside the property was also Lexi, a Newfoundland-cross. Clarke admitted there was no food in the house and Lexi had not been fed that day. She was underweight and severely matted. Thankfully, the Scottish SPCA intervened and Lexi survived. Clarke, who is also known as Nicolla Martin, was convicted at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court of causing unnecessary suffering to both dogs. The force of the attack left Narla with severe swelling, bruising and intense pain. A vet said her injuries were consistent with being punched forcefully. Narla’s left eye was swollen almost shut, while bruising covered the side of her face. She yelped in pain when vets tried to examine her jaw and eye. Inside her crate, an RSPCA inspector found no food, water or bedding. Waldron also failed to seek veterinary treatment for her injuries. Evidence uncovered by the RSPCA included a text suggesting the dog had been beaten so violently that the person responsible had injured their own hand. Waldron pleaded guilty to two Animal Welfare Act offences at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court. He received an 18-month community order, 10 rehabilitation activity days and a 26-session programme. Marc Luxford, prosecuting, said that Thorpe, a neighbour of Salem’s owner, picked up the cat while she was not there and he “quizzed” another neighbour, who owned two dogs, about how his dogs were with cats. Thorpe then “dangled” Salem over a fence into the garden of the man. He put the terrified pet on the head of one of the dogs. Police attended Jonathan Dixon's Cramlington address after neighbours reported hearing a dog "screaming and yelping" but arrogantly he slammed the door in their faces. However, after being persuaded to allow them in, officers found his pet Mabel, who was "skinny and had her ribs protruding" and also had scratches and marks on her face, a court was told. Whilst the constables were inside his address, Dixon admitted that he had kicked Mabel, who cowered every time a constable went near her, because she'd "pooed on the kitchen floor", prosecutors said. The 43-year-old's admission landed him at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. Prosecutor, Jade Houston, said police attended Dixon's address on October 18 this year. Miss Houston continued: "They attended following reports of a dog screaming and yelping within the property. This defendant opened the door with a small bulldog behind him. The officers said they needed to conduct an animal welfare check and the defendant shut the door in their faces. "The defendant was told that the officers would be able to enter the property anyway and he did then let them in. Inside was a bulldog called Mabel, who was skinny with ribs protruding. "The defendant claimed he had kicked her due to her pooing on the kitchen floor and she had scratches on her head. When officers tried to get close to her, she ducked and cowered away." The court heard that Mabel was seized and Dixon, of Chirnside, in Cramlington, was arrested. Nigel Hedley, defending, said Dixon had pleaded guilty and was in fulltime employment, earning £2,200 a month. Mr Hedley added: "The dog has been taken away from him, so he no longer has it.
