Just realized I haven't posted my other decent shot of the Bergen, AB EF2 Tornado from July 7th, 2022! This was after it came out from inside those rain curtains of the first photo I had posted. Personally, it's my favourite shot of that day! 😳

Might need a damage survey near Lynx Lake #azwx @NWSFlagstaff
Replying to @lorigracewx
It looks like an actual tornado hit along Walker Road south of Lynx Lake. You can go to YCSO IG page for the images. The radar I was looking at showed that area as well. Obviously not confirmed until NWS report though.

Avoiding 1.5 C of warming above pre-industrial levels is now impossible, and a new pathway to limit peak warming and then bring temperatures back down will be needed, according to an annual UN report on global climate action.

Good example of MESH peaking when hail is aloft. The severe hail reports follow shortly after as the stones fall out. #azwx

Oct 21 Wed afternoon: NHC is monitoring 2 systems over the central and NW Atlantic Ocean. The westernmost one (Invest #AL93) has a 50% chance to become a subtropical storm, with low chances for the system well E-SE of Bermuda. More: hurricanes.gov

⚠️ Monitoring Ongoing Chemical Leak in Toledo, Ohio for Potential Impacts in Southwestern Ontario
We are closely monitoring an ongoing hazardous chemical leak in Toledo, Ohio, just across the border from Southwestern Ontario, for any potential impacts on our side of the border.
The incident began late Tuesday evening, prompting officials to order evacuations and shelter-in-place measures in parts of North Toledo. Officials have also expressed concerns about a potential explosion as crews work to contain the leak.
The chemical involved has been identified as glycidyl methacrylate, an industrial chemical that can pose health risks if inhaled or through direct exposure.
Given Toledo’s proximity to Windsor and Essex County, we are keeping a close eye on the situation, particularly the potential for airborne chemicals to travel across the border.
The good news is that current wind patterns are carrying the air away from Southwestern Ontario. However, wind direction can change, so we will continue monitoring conditions closely.
At this point, there is no indication of a threat to communities on the Canadian side of the border. We want to emphasize that we are monitoring this out of an abundance of caution.
We will provide further updates if there is any indication of a potential impact on our region.

There are some things visible/IR satellite can’t always show effectively like surface fronts — and the latest ASCAT pass indicates the frontal boundary is just barely enough detached from the center to make the case it might be a close to or classifiable as a subtropical cyclone.

We now have Subtropical Storm Josephine in the Atlantic.
Josephine has met all of the necessary conditions this afternoon - sustained moderate to intermittently deep convection, symmetric moderately deep warm core, and as the earlier ASCAT pass shows, detached from any front.

A highly unusual EF-0 tornado has been confirmed near Lac Spartan, Nord-du-Québec, from July 21st. Not only is this the farthest north Canadian tornado since at least 1980, but 2026 is now the busiest Canadian tornado season on record with 124 inland tornadoes. #qcstorm

Aurora Potential Tonight
Based on current conditions, your best chance to catch the Northern Lights is across northern sections of Central and Eastern Ontario, where the aurora may be visible along the northern horizon.
However, a substorm may be imminent, which could boost aurora activity and push the lights much farther south, potentially giving more of Southern Ontario a chance to see them!
Skies are mostly clear across the region, but a nearly full Moon will make the aurora harder to see until it sets around 2 AM. If you’re heading out, find a dark location away from city lights with a clear view of the northern horizon.
📸 Photography tip: Use your phone’s Night Mode or a camera on a tripod with a long exposure. Try night mode settings of several seconds, keep your camera steady, and take a few shots even if the aurora looks faint to your eyes. Your camera may capture colours that are difficult to see in person!

An exceedingly rare weather setup is forecast to occur tomorrow across the state of Arizona. Hail is the dominant threat, but strong winds and tornadoes are in the cards as well. More on this soon! #azwx
