Thank you Duncan! Grateful for your guidance and support 😊
Congratulations to @andreannafw (now Dr Wright) from the lab on her successful PhD defence yesterday 🥳. Thanks to @myantlab and Adele Murrell who were kind enough to act as examiners.

Looks like it will be a great meeting and sorry to be missing it, enjoy everyone. Look out for @ChristineRSci and @andreannafw from the lab to hear about their exciting projects using synthetic biology to understand DNA methylation. #epigenetics.
Great first day at the @CaixaResearchCA Genome Regulation meeting in Madrid at the @FundlaCaixa. So many great talks about Genome architecture. Feeling inspired ✨️

The paper version of our DNMT3B study is now out in @emboreports 🥳:
embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…
You can read more on the previous thread but here is a summary of the main updates. This is one for Southern blot fans! 🧵1/9
New pre-print alert 🚨 @franci_tag shows that DNMT3B PWWP mutations cause hypermethylation of H3K9me3 heterochromatin that is facilitated by its N-terminus. You can read more here: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
But here is a quick summary 🧵 1/10
Had a fantastic time presenting my work at @BiochemSoc #biochemEvent Transcription and Chromatin UK!
Congratulations to @andreannafw and @HallHickman for winning @QMULepigenetics sponsored poster prizes at @BiochemSoc #biochemEvent on chromatin & transcription

Kicking off Edinburgh's Atoms to Galaxies🌌 #pint23 events we have @SeanHMcMahon telling us how you would you even recognise alien life if it was staring you in the face 🦠
Beer apparently has a more complex biosignature than some microbial life so all may not be as you expect 🍺
Thanks to everyone who came along to the POGS poster evening!

This is what a Unit looks like! Thanks to everyone who came to our retreat, including our @EdinUni_IGC colleagues, and braved the weather for this photo opportunity.

Replying to @EdinburghUni
@EdinburghUni new finance system has left lots PhD students unpaid this month and staff can't even track who! An organisation failing to pay its lowest paid workers during a cost of living crisis is outrageous @PandemicPGRs @UCU @UCUScotland

Hello #epigenetics twitter, we're looking to use @NEBiolabs EM-conversion module for assessing DNA methylation levels in amplicons rather than genome-wide. Wondering if any of you out there might have useful advice/protocols on setting this up?
