Evidence is growing that weโre turning the corner on productivity.
US productivity grew at a 3.6% annual rate this past quarter.
Thatโs more than double the 1.5% average from 2007-2019.
The new numbers put me further ahead for my bet with Bob Gordon about productivity growth in the 2020s. ๐ช

On the AI regulation panic. My 2 cents..
Capabilities and diffusion have already decoupled. The X community's reaction to Dario et al. calling for paced capabilities is arguing over a settled fact.
This decoupling was inevitable, whether enforced by government action (Fable 5 getting export controlled) or by coordinated pacing from the private labs as Dario proposed today. Dangerous capability is entangled with general capability -> cyber is the most grindable dangerous domain and you can't strip it out surgically, so every frontier release re-opens the same gate. Whether that gate is Washington or a lab consortium is a governance detail, not a change in regime. So stop freaking out. This isn't your problem to solve.
This is a lab-layer problem with a lab-layer solution. Not an ecosystem problem.
Take a step back and think why the labs tend to lead the safety narrative: they are overweighting the capabilities they observe in verifiable domains. RLVR compounds only where outcomes are dense, replayable and gradeable, where the base model already puts mass on the solution and you can grind rollouts in parallel. This is a narrow ecosystem: Code, math and cyber.
If you use frontier models to code, you probably feel these are AGI-like machines. Same for math. Same for cyber.
But if you use frontier models to work through non-verifiable domains and you are at the frontier of your field, you appreciate how limited they are and how much work is ahead before they are ready for RSI. Non-stationary, reset-free domains, like markets, have sparse, delayed, self-erasing outcomes. Sample-efficient continual learning is unsolved, and scaling context doesn't substitute for it. So for all those claims arguing AGI is here (including the goat Jensen), I welcome you to show us where we reached general intelligence in macro investing. Or life sciences. Or anything reset-free.
The labs and frontier users are sampling different regions of the same capability surface. Labs live in the grindable region and extrapolate; domain experts live in the ungrindable one and see the ceiling. Both observations are correct. Only one generalizes to RSI, and it isn't the labs'. So the pessimism from the labs makes sense BUT also feels trivial to anyone in the real world.
Capability-diffusion decoupling is the natural state of the diffusion regime. It shouldn't be a point of contention. Labs pace their development so models don't become superhuman hackers. The rest of us keep pushing frontier work in domains where the models are still nowhere near that.
Tip -> donโt freak out when the hyperscalers decide to pace themselves too. That is the most bullish market outcome out there
Keep grindingโฆ

Not enough people are seriously trying to reconcile the two facts:
- models can now resolve Millennium Problems
- annualized US GDP growth is at 1.5%

Honestly, this is the most accurate diagram I've seen.
Waterfall: You plan for 18 months and deliver exactly what nobody needs anymore.
Agile: You deliver something usable at every step, but the CEO keeps asking, "Where's the car?"
AI: You get the car on day one. It has six wheels, the doors are on backwards, and it has a rocket launcher. You spend more time making it yours than actually "building"; it's shaping. owning. verifying. That's what the best AI developers do now. They don't build. They shape and own.

Every token launch looks the same at first glance. Hype builds, liquidity flows, communities rally.
Yet the foundation rarely changes. Most of what moves is noise, not structure.
What if the next wave of launches is not about louder marketing but tighter alignment between what a token represents and what it actually controls?
That shift alone could change everything.
Many tokens trade freely while the core IP, branding, and revenue pathways sit outside the token structure.
When pressure hits, that separation quietly becomes risk.
Crypto projects often say they want to operate like big companies or eventually be acquired.
Without clear token aligned rights, what gets sold may not reflect what holders think they own.
Liquidity is easy to move, but control and incentives are not.
The future launch model may focus on ownership clarity from day one.
Tokens would not just signal participation but carry enforceable economic alignment tied to real control.
As AI accelerates software creation, tokens representing digital products will need stronger foundations.
Structure will matter more than noise, especially when real value is at stake.
The market rewards noise today.
Launches that last will be the ones built on clarity and structure.
But will we get there?

Paul Graham on why you shouldnโt write with AI:
โIn preindustrial times most people's jobs made them strong. Now if you want to be strong, you work out. So there are still strong people, but only those who choose to be. What's in the semi-redeemable toolkit? How can we use it to make deals that are better for buyers?
We updated the docs to describe features that overlay on industrial quality vaults and money management. Assemble them to construct SPAVs, DATs, liquidity mining, and funds /1

2025 is unironically โworseโ because in 2022 bad things were happening but crypto was the center of the action and the star of the show. You could ascribe negative price action to catalysts that you knew we were going to work through.
Now crypto is the forgotten child, with AI and the mag7 starring. Retail is focused on datacenters quantum and rare earth stocks. Crypto is trending down based on no catalysts, just exhaustion and lack of attention and buyers and a long DAT hangover.
Does this mean itโs over? No just the โ4 year cycleโ and โalt sznโ are obsolete concepts. To make money you have to actually deliver value, and thatโs a grim prospect to many
a little shocked by the amount of people agreeing with this shitpost
guys 2022 was so much worse its hard to even compare, credit shops were blowing up left and right, friends were disappearing from telegram chats every day, crypto companies going ghost not operating but still exist like the walking dead, funds closing their doors, charts were a constant falling knife with cascading liquidations
it wasn't only embarrassing to be in crypto people assumed you were a legit criminal if you were here
to quote Haseeb "Luna collapsing, then 3AC, then FTX, then Genesis, BlockFi, Axie, NFTs--pretty much everything felt like a house of cards.
And then after all that stuff collapsed, the BANKS collapsed, stablecoins depegged, Gary Gensler and the president tried to destroy almost every company in the industry"
2025 is basically alts having a small case of erectile dysfunction
crypto is entrenched in the future of global finance now things are going to be ok

If AI can code 100x faster, why aren't you shipping 100x faster?
Because AI code is not production-ready code, and definitely not code where you understand and can vouch for every line
