The 'moderate' Dem voices we hear on RTÉ generally reflect merely the theatricals of the uniparty politics within the elite of Dems/Reps. Billionaire donors to both Dems and Republican parties donate to keep the levers, layers of power in both parties operating as a uniparty.
Here's the "moderate" Democrat regularly trawled out by RTÉ. The law lecturer who spent two years warning the Irish not to enact a bill in full compliance with international law. God forbid he'd vote for a man who has vehemently opposed the US-funded murders of 21,000 children

'Time and time again, people spoke of how the dominant narrative served to silence, to other, to label, to exclude and to stifle critical thinking.' President Connolly's inauguration speech in which she called out that centre right reflex to label dissenting voices 'hysterical'.
He has become hysterical about what is a common-sense move by government to get rid of an anachronistic measure. The removal of the TL will have no impact on our neutrality. I can remember the 1972 referendum when our neutrality was said to be threatened by EEC membership. 54 years later, we remain militarily neutral.

I read RTE news, and then other news sites about what's happening in Palestine and in the genocidal settler colonial project there. The difference is - pronounced.
🇮🇱 Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's main challenger, said he will form a "Zionist" government and laid out four principles any Knesset member must sign to join. His camp (48 seats) only reaches a majority with the 19 seats held by Palestinian ("Arab") parties. The principles are:
⚫️ Recognizing Israel as a "Jewish, democratic, liberal and egalitarian state"
⚫️ Commitment to the values of Israel's Declaration of Independence
⚫️ Mandatory military, national or civilian service for all citizens
⚫️ Recognizing Hamas as a terrorist organization and committing to destroy "its military and governing power in the Gaza Strip" Eisenkot said the decision on the next government "belongs to Israel's citizens alone, without interference and manipulation." The former military chief of staff, said a majority voted against "the government of October 7 and draft-dodging" by more than half a million votes, including a majority of "the serving Zionist public," Zionist Israelis who do military service. He vowed to use that majority "immediately" to set up a state commission of inquiry into Oct. 7, impose a universal draft and repeal Netanyahu's judicial overhaul laws. "The war against our enemies has not ended. The war's goals have not been achieved," Eisenkot added, saying that until a new government is sworn in, he will back military action against "direct and immediate threats.” Israel has used that pretext to continue its genocide in Gaza, casting out daily killing of civilians and deliberately blocking sufficient food, medicine, shelter, and reconstruction and repair materials for over 12 months.

As the tide turns globally, I see the effort to pin the blame solely on Netanyahu. The strategy is to resurrect Israel's image in the process of toppling him. But genocide is not a one-man show; the whole system is culpable. Zionism must be abolished. There is no going back.

The claim "The idea of leaving the Euro was disavowed almost immediately after Meloni became PM" is untrue. Meloni only briefly toyed with this in mid-2010s, and before reaching office accepted Draghi's main economic policies. Her conformism with EU/euro/NATO was always baked in

On Militarized Vocabulary (Continued) As I see it, these geopolitical developments (e.g., the militarized vocabulary & analysis) don’t seem like an either-or question. More and more intensified organized violence is driven by both crisis and unbraking. And there is a distinction between the two: On the one hand, there is a crisis of capital’s own unmaking: Because the fall of the Soviet bloc removed the historical brakes on capital, the transatlantic ruling class spent thirty years cannibalizing its own productive base through financialization and deindustrialization. That self-inflicted hollowing-out produced a Gramscian crisis of authority. According to Gramsci, this leads to more coercion and less consent. On the other hand, there is a cost-calculus of coercion vs. consent: These transatlantic elites do not lose sleep over a "crisis of moral authority" the way we might imagine. For such a ruling class, hegemony is a balance sheet where they ask themselves: is consent or coercion cheaper right now? During the Cold War, buying working-class consent through welfare states, high wages, and public goods was an existential necessity to prevent socialism, so they paid the price. Today, with organized counterpower fragmented, coercion and low-consent management are cheaper than rebuilding the welfare state. Furthermore, genocide is not an anomaly by any stretch of the imagination within the capitalist system. Seen through Heide Gerstenberger and Domenico Losurdo, genocide, colonial erasure, and organized violence are the historical baseline and normalcy of capitalism whenever external restraints are removed. Furthermore, this violence is an active strategy for adapting and hindering the consolidation of any autonomous counter-order. On the topic of all information contributing to understanding: Of course. I wouldn’t argue to exclude military analyses. But I ask myself: who actually uses this kind of information on military developments to offer a sociological or historical-materialist study of military procurement, conscription, or defense innovation, and to uncover the underlying social forces, class compromises, and state-society relations? They are in the minority. Instead, military curiosity treats missile trajectories, kill ratios, and map changes as self-contained, almost fetish objects. So, it is not about military information and analyses being excluded. But militarized language and analysis have become the hegemonic “common sense.” The problem is that, as Marx and Gramsci remind us, the ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas, and today, the imperial security apparatus's militarized lens has become the global common sense. When the public sphere defaults to analyzing the world through kinetic victory and defeat, "carefulness" unfortunately disappears, and the imperial ruling class's security grammar replaces social analysis altogether.

And right now our defence minister Helen McEntee is concerned with one war in particular: the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. McEntee says Irish troops should be deployed to Lebanon as part of a new EU mission involved with not only peacekeeping – but peace enforcement. Peace enforcement includes joining “coalitions of the willing” and fighting wars of aggression like the 20-year Afghanistan war, and the wars in Iraq, which claimed the lives of well over a million people. If we consider the ideals the state was founded on, it is clear that Irish soldiers should never be involved in these kinds of missions.
