The Duo is very disorienting, and hard to find the buttons. I just realized, one day in, that there's a camera button.

After a long day playing my fake iPhone Duo accordion, I like to unwind with a fake grilled cheese sandwich made on my fake Duo panini press and have a cold fake beer from my fake Duo fridge. Then listen to my fake Walkman and play a little fake soccer and fake Battleship. All on a very real $2,000 phone.

🚨 Going out of business sale 🚨 iOS dev course sales plummeted due to AI. It costs a lot of money to host my courses online and with sales at basically $0, I've cancelled that hosting. This closes down the site which unfortunately removes access to the courses. I want you to have the courses you purchased forever, so I've added the ability to download my course videos so they are yours. I've put my recent course on sale at a large discount so you can get it before it's gone and I've made old courses available for free if you want to grab those too. The school will be online until November 24th so you have a few weeks to download these videos at seanallen.teachable.com Thanks for learning with me and supporting my work over the years. I appreciate it.

If anyone is rocking an iPhone Duo review unit, check out an individual @MacRumors article page in landscape using inner screen. We have a duo specific layout.

Today, I got laid off from @androidcentral, along with the rest of the staff. I've enjoyed 7 absolutely amazing years there (5 of which were full time), and am beyond thankful for the opportunity to wake up and be a tech journalist every day. If you're hiring, my DMs are open!

Been doing some technical cleanup. We had left our rss feed http accessible for years even after we switched everything else to https, because I wasn't sure old clients would deal with it. Surely, I thought we can switch it now. Well, we had one major breakage so far.

AI is killing All About Berlin. When you Google something, you used to get a link to my website, but now you get an AI-generated answer trained on my work. This has a devastating impact on traffic.

MacRumors Twitter got hacked. Complex Pw, two factor enabled, activity shows “Twitter for iPhone” from foreign ip as likely source. They didn’t change pw or log out other accounts so don’t think they had orig pw. Theories on how?

Web publishers going out of business shouldn’t feel normal. medium.com/@thelloydcoombes/…
Today is the last (official) day of @GGReconGaming (although we've all been away for two weeks) I've wanted to put my thoughts together and have done so over on Medium, but the long and short of it is that Google is killing publishers - we weren't the first, and we won't be the last. medium.com/@thelloydcoombes/…

I haven’t posted about @toucharcade shutdown before. In reality the writing was on the wall for TouchArcade for years. The fact we hung on for as long as we did is surprising. There were a lot of factors as to why a mobile gaming site wasn’t ultimately viable, but certainly the rise of free to play contributed a lot. Apple’s rules against apps that promote other apps also was a major setback for us. I was very proud of the TouchArcade app back in the day. When we started TouchArcade, I believed it had a much higher potential ceiling than @MacRumors . The early days of iOS gaming had a real entrepreneurial vibe amongst all the early developers. It felt like the start of something new. Many of the early developers we met at that first GDC went on to become super successful with just one or two person teams. In reading the comments about TouchArcade’s demise, I love how many people have such fond memories of the early days — from both readers and developers who appreciated our sincere effort to surface great games in a sea of app releases. We had such a great team throughout. Thanks to everyone who supported us!
