The tech industry in the country desperately needs an overhaul of the engineering education infrastructure (AKA engineering colleges) to stay relevant globally.
We just announced Scaler School of Technology, as our attempt to solve this massive issue. Let me explain, The Why?
@AspiringMindsAM published a National Employability report in 2019, which found that >80% of people graduating with an engineering degree are unemployable because of a lack of skills that the industry seeks.
One of the reasons why @scaler_official exists is the same; in most cases, traditional college education does not make its graduates capable enough to contribute to the industry in meaningful ways, thus leading to unemployment or underpaid support jobs in tech.
As our contribution and effort to solve this problem, we are starting the first batch for Scaler School of Technology, which will be offering a fully residential, four-year undergraduate program in technology.
This will have a limited intake of only 200 seats, with the residential campus in the heart of Bangalore. The four-year program is massively differentiated from traditional outdated engineering programs, with the goal of ensuring that students graduate with capabilities similar to those of a senior person in the industry.
How will we deliver that?
- 1.5 years of coursework, followed by a one-year internship in a top tech company, which is followed by specialization in a domain that is most sought after in the industry. For example, Algorithmic trading, Applied AI, designing high-scale systems, etc.
- All classes are taught by industry experts who are practitioners themselves, as opposed to theoretical teaching by academicians.
- Campus in the heart of Bangalore, to ensure deep exposure to tech giants and startups doing cutting-edge tech innovation.
- Each student gets a personal 1:1 mentor throughout the program, who will be a senior tech leader from the industry.
- Graduate with a UGC accredited BS and EU accredited MS through our partner universities, to which the students will be enrolled in parallel. This will ensure that you have access to all opportunities across the globe for immigration, higher studies, and employment.
- Last but not least, no need to memorize chemistry formulas to study CS! You can do that later if you intend to work in the specialization of the application of computer science in the domain of pharma or the chemical industry!

Thrilled and grateful to announce our investment in @warpsciences.
Warp is bringing AI and robotics into the labs, improving the very infrastructure that drug discovery runs on. Discovering new medicines gets faster and cheaper, and more of them reach the people who need them. I can't think of a better team to solve this problem.
Thank you, @kevinweil, @dpatil, @manohar_paluri, and Solomon Reisberg, for giving @neon_fund the opportunity to be part of your rocketship!
💥 Introducing Warp Sciences, a new company applying AI and robotics to help the world develop new medicines faster.
We’ve raised a $215M Series A led by @lightspeedvp to bring frontier AI out of the browser and into the lab, and build scientific capacity here in America.
I co-founded Warp with my long-time friend @dpatil, FAIR co-founder @manohar_paluri, and drug hunter Sol Reisberg. The early team is full of incredible people like @bkspears9, who helped achieve Q>1 fusion at LLNL.

Lots of VCs kindof sound like this: "Your basketball team doesn't have a moat, any healthy human can throw the ball into the basket thingy. "
People who have not run companies before don't understand how much the team matters more than some imagined structural moat.
Oh boy!
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

I think what is actually needed is for Indian people to actually give a damn about their cities and fellow citizens.
Anybody using the "I pay taxes, I shouldn't have to do anything" excuse should go live in another country. India isn't developed, it's developing, so it needs patriots, not parasites. If this triggers you, it means you're part of the problem.
If you're not happy with the footpath (or a pothole, or anything else which is broken), fix it, or call someone to fix it, and don't give up until it's fixed. Be relentless. Be vocal. Be creative. Make it your mission to get that one thing fixed. Look at what Virendra (@Virendra0698) did by just calling the right people and being respectful (but also persistent). He and Arun Pai (@arunpaiblrwalks) along with the help of GBA and some wonderful volunteers turned an unofficial garbage dump into a pristine, beautiful footpath through sheer force of will.

I've never been fully convinced that a purely technical career is for me. Even now, I feel like I could do more than just tech. I've always liked the leadership/sales/marketing/get things done side of things, especially where the problem is about understanding people. I love psychology and and thinking about what drives humans from first principles, and I love to exercise this when I let my mind wander.
But weirdly, that's exactly what's pushed me to get more technical since I started college. I look at some of these insanely hardworking technical nerds (a compliment) and don't really see myself competing with them on research. I do want enough breadth and depth to build something good myself though.
Initially, that meant being good enough to get good jobs. Longer term, it means being able to envision products, maybe build an early version myself, and convince other incredible people to build with me.
Being technically capable, having agency and being able to get people behind an idea seems like a pretty good combination to work towards if I want to be a founder someday.
We started building @Scaler_SST now almost four years back, to build a space for 18 year old, who love to build and solve hard problems.
fast forward today, these kids inspire me! There are kids who played a key role in building some of the fastest billion dollar cos in India.
I'm confident this bunch of dreamers, square pegs in the round holes, will play a big role in making India an AI economy.
And this space is where a lot of impactful innovation and beautiful memories are being made!
Lucky to be surrounded by some of the most grounded, ambitious and hard working young people I know!
Ad Astra!
The kind of chaos I love! @very_daniel

Peak AI!
@kapoorkkunal I thought you’re peak AI actor 😅
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models
“I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that.
“With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor.
“You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something.
“That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’
“I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”
A little thing that I kinda like every time I speak with our security team in office or home on phone. Instead of hello, they say "Jai Hind".
There are 1000 things that need to get better in country, But sense of national pride, in whichever way possible is must for us to leap forward.

Today, I'm proud to introduce Fo to give personal AI something no lab ever has... Humans.
Other personal AI's pretend AI can do everything. Fo employs humans to do tasks that AI cannot.
- 2x better at real-world task completion (beats other agents by 69%)
- 94% trust rate (4x less likely to leak private info vs Muse, Instinct)

This lines up with my experience during my undergraduate and master's at a similar university. Faculty members can be difficult. Some of them are assholes. But an overwhelming majority of them are kind and helpful. They have dedicated themselves to helping improve others. I'm a beneficiary of this. I wouldn't be where I am in life without the gift of their mentorship.
did my B.Tech at IIT Bombay and my PhD at IIT Delhi. I've been a professor for 14 years now. In 22 years of watching the IIT/IIIT system closely, I have never once witnessed a teacher discriminate against a student on the basis of caste.
During my B.Tech, most of us had no idea what caste our batchmates belonged to. Many of my close friends were SC/ST. We never discussed it. It never entered any conversation or decision. Not once. Our exposure to the humanities department was limited, though — the term "Brahmanical patriarchy" didn't even exist back then.
As a teacher, I don't ask a student's name before solving their doubt. Often I don't know their name at all — some of my classes have 300+ students. We treat them all the same. So does every colleague I know. So did every professor who taught me.
Social media has now filled vulnerable students' heads with a lot of manufactured grievance about caste discrimination that, in my experience, doesn't exist.
