I will say this - LLMs are not replacing humans any time soon. I have experience in my domaim and know what to elicit from an LLM. I'm saving myself the hassle of typing 100K LoC every year. But if companies stop hiring young people, there will be a void in the pipeline and it will create havoc. "AI will replace SDEs" is a marketing gimmick. AI will make people more productive and result in more people writing more software. This non-hiring of juniors will be fixed soon enough.
Saying that a lot more needs to be done doesn't belittle the work already done.
For those asking when I visited UP, I've been there every year since 2021. The changes in important locations, monuments, and areas are visible. I don't deny there have been improvements. But please get out of your ivory towers and see how people in the bottom quartile live. That's how we should judge a society.
Looks like govt will have to spend its way to prosperity in UP. Most of the state still looks, feels, and smells like a gutter, outside of the shiny expressways and few city centers. UP along with Bihar represent probably the most depraved human state in the world right now. And you measure that by how the bottom 25% live.
All true. Sadly, bureaucrats and politicians have zero interest in anything but rent-seeking and taking a cut of every transaction. The issues run deep, and solutions are slow to come.
Until India develops, based on the talents of our own people, we will not find true respect in the world, no matter whether right, left or center is in charge anywhere.
The racist shows us a mirror and asks: "if your nation is smart, why do you want to come here". I do not hate him, I want to respond by building.
Some Indians agree with the racist and think India will never develop. I do not hate them either, I want to respond by building.
Companies and nations are built by people who believe it can be done.
The urgent national priority is to build, build and build.
It's praiseworthy that some of the poorest Indians are skipping work to get their names back into the electoral rolls.
If an equally strong sense of civic duty applied to other spheres of life - like no littering, or urinating in public or following traffic rules, we'd be a whole other country. Seems like all the passion and energy has been restored to expend on one issue only...
Or a simpler explanation is that it's just unrepresentative (a type of fake) news.
Many people in India's capital, Delhi, are missing work as they try to get their names back on the voter list. Millions of Delhi residents have been removed in a nationwide revision of electoral rolls known as the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR reut.rs/4sidCs9
To vote again, some Indians have to prove that they're alive - News
During the recent SIR drive in Hyderabad, they removed my Grandmothers name from the rolls. She passed away in late 2024. A number of elderly people in my neighborhood have passed away over the last 5-6 years. Their names were also removed from the rolls. These people are amongst the 13 crore "disenfranchised" voters. Pretty sure these people didn't sign Form 6.
Abetment of Crime? 😱
ECI deletes 13 crore voters, then forces them to sign Form 6.
The catch: Form 6 is for new voters only. Using it to restore deleted voters carries 1 year in jail. That’s Abetment of Crime. @ECISVEEP
One thing the govt should do is to clarify what % of the removals are deaths, change of residence, de-duplication and outright removals. The outright removals are the only ones that should attract scrutiny.
Reg Bangladesh - PCI is an average. In India's case that average is seriously dragged down by a couple of states. Most parts of India are considerably richer than Bangladesh and provide way more opportunities.
The BJP justified the crores of SIR exclusions using alleged migration from Bangladesh.
Till now, there has never been any proof of this mass migration.
Even worse, IMF data shows Bangladeshis are (marginally) richer than Indians.
This makes India unique in having anti-immigration poltics directed at a country that's not poorer than it!

Beyond a certain income threshold, farmers should be treated just like any other business. Someone running a business takes the same risks as a farmer. No reason why one should be exempt while the other pays zero income tax while enjoying all sorts of subsidies on the tax payers dime.
However this won't happen since agricultural income is the biggest laundromat in India.
The same people who ask, “How can a farmer afford to eat pizza?” are the ones who’ll soon ask, “How can a farmer sleep in a proper house, eat two meals a day, send their children to school, or afford healthcare?”
Some people simply can’t stand seeing others do well. If farming is such an easy, tax-free path to wealth as they claim, then why don’t they take it up themselves?
No one is stopping them. It’s easy to judge from the outside, just frustrated from life, idiots!! ☺️
We should give each side bigger, better weapons.
It's an open secret and official customs data reflects only a part of it.

Do people who ask for something like this even understand what it means and its effect on private enterprise?
One thing leftists never fail to advocate is due process for themselves, but summary judgment and execution for their political rivals. Luckily, Indians see through this blatant abuse of democracy and are increasingly not voting for such people.
This Singaporean obsession with where one went to school is fascinating. Since most people end up attending NUS/NTU, college isn't much of a differentiator. So school ends up being the big thing.
Growing up in India, which school you want to was borderline irrelevant.

Excellent comparison between the achievements of three CMs of #UttarPradesh.
Yet to see communists divorced from violence. More people have died at the hands of communists than any other in human history by an order of multiple magnitudes. And that includes the Nazis and Facists and Ghengis Khan all put together.
The face of the Gen Z protests, activist Neha Bora (@neha_aisa) has said, a video of her purportedly drawing parallels with the violent student protests in Bangladesh was doctored and that she does not support the use of violence at all.
Speaking to Nidhi Razdan (@Nidhi) on Dekoder she said “you cannot accuse a person who has been sitting on 23 days of hunger strike that she's calling for violence.
You cannot accuse us as activists who have been dragged on the street, whose clothes have been torn, who have been kept in detention for 10 hours, 12 hours, and have still not said one word of abuse to the security forces, or have not picked up any arms.
We were getting beaten up by security forces. We were getting beaten up by right wing goons. What did we have in our hands?
Did we have lathis? Did we have pellet guns like the security forces on 20th of July? No.”
Talking about the future of the protests she said , “the state is busy writing definitions of its own and I believe the agitation and resistance of the common people in favour of democracy is also busy writing definitions of its own.”
Watch this conversation and follow DeKoder for more.

I don't think any Indian municipal councillor, let alone MLA or MP, has used public transport, schools, hospitals or railways in the last 10 years. Netaji always lives close to the office or is ferried to the office in a convoy of SUVs If you live a life that detached from reality, it's going to be hard to appreciate the concerns of ordinary people.
Remember this in Hyderabad as well. I lived in the heart of Owaisi territory. Was informed in the 2004 LS election that I had already voted. I created a massive shit storm at the booth with TDP agents and managed to get my vote in.
Anyone who wants to return to ballot papers or doesn't want rolls corrected with precision is just trying to promote violent electoral manipulation.
Pass legislation to fix this in whatever way you want. Stop boring us to death.
Vice President JD Vance breaks down the data:
"If you are working as an H-1B visa in the United States of America, you’re earning $20,000 less than an American citizen hired in the same position. If you were brought in by one of these foreign outsourcing firms, you’re making $48,000 less than an American citizen in a similar position. So I’m sure that everybody here understands the game that is being played. You bring in indentured servants from outside the country, you lay off American workers and, if you’re a corporation, you make a ton of money by under cutting the wages of American workers, replacing them with people who frankly shouldn’t be in the United States of America to begin with."
