I think our game studio should be 100% AI free, for the foreseeable future. I’m not an AI hater, and i think AI can assist in making good things, but with the coming AI slop wave, avoiding all AI content will be an effective filter for many players to avoid a lot of trash.

I've been reviewing a lot of code written by Opus 5.5, and it still seems to make a lot of bad software engineering decisions. The kind that will accumulate/calcify into unmaintainable software over time. IMO even the agents will struggle to maintain vibecoded software.
If I can't use all the 3D-models from your training set due to licensing, why should I be able to use any of its output?

Devs on every MMO I worked on in the past 30 years:

Forcing developers to write a political statement to be used against them by the hate mob they’re helping organize is abhorrent.

After dozens of replies, I guess I have my answer as to why indie developers would use AI:
They don't care about art, or expressing anything. Their only motive is profit. Nothing else matters to them. Got it.
I suppose I was foolish to expect anything else. My bad, everybody!

Hot take: it’s the second-rate programmers raving about ai.
ai code is mediocre at best.
I have yet to experience the “great leap in dev speeds” on frontier models when I have to baby it for quality.
Even “A-listers” can have bad takes.

As I manually type more code (Yes I am a dinosaur) and review my code using AI tools, I am finding how bad AI suggestions are from an architectural perspective. It behaves like a teenager, who when asked to clean the room simply pushes all the garbage under the bed.
When I confront AI with those bad decisions it says "Oh yeah you are right....".
I really don't understand how people are 100% trusting AI and committing all the code without reviewing.

“you’ll be left behind if you don’t use Al”
Sure. And you’ll be “ahead” for a short period of time in which you’ll render yourself incapable of anything other than a middleman who knows how to prompt, which will turn out to be the most replaceable loophole job on earth

If you can't be bothered to write it, why should I read it?
If you can't be bothered to craft it, why should I touch it?
If you can't be bothered to learn it, why should I listen?
If you can't be bothered to watch it, why should I see it?

LLMs are incredible at producing something that appears to work, but if you look at in detail, it's a series of Rube Goldberg machines.
I don't believe it's a skill issue on my part. They will invariably do something incredibly stupid for the tiniest challenges. I still love them, but they certainly can't program.

Fluid draw is now 0.044ms at 1440p. That is FAST!
You most likely guessed it: Claybook HLSL -> Petafab Slang port by Codex removed cone-trace pre-pass optimization from fluids :D
Ported Claybook's fluid solver to Petafab. Looks awesome :)
24K particles test:
Simulation: 0.13ms
Surface generation: 0.05ms
Drawing: 0.3ms

I think participating in something like an offline game jam would be interesting. You'd have to yourself plan and bring all the material you might need before the jam, and then not have any internet access during it.

Did a polish pass for object/wall/floor insides. Petafab is the game version of YouTube cake cutting videos. Feels so good to slice objects.
Video coming soon. Even better in motion.
Thanks all for reaching out to me, in public & privately. I'm doing well! I feel inspired to keep supporting creatives and eager to continue doing what I do in the way I want.
Chet Faliszek made a video, and I think he's much better with words than I am.
