Discord will soon make public server messages searchable on Google
The feature will be enabled by default for US adults, but users can opt out in their privacy settings
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Missing context: only applies to messages posted after the update, in public channels of discoverable servers.
No private servers or DMs.
Indexed messages won’t show usernames or avatars.
Admins can opt out entire servers; users can opt out their own messages.

This is more limited than the post implies. It only applies to some parts of Discoverable Servers. Private Servers, Community Servers, DMs, group DMs, and private or role-restricted channels in Discoverable Servers are excluded too. Usernames and avatars are not shown next to messages.
We made this update because over the years people told us useful info that used to be findable on the web had gotten hard to track down.
Admins and members get to decide how their content is shared, or can opt out completely.
Starting today, admins can pick which channels take part, or opt out entirely, in Server Settings > Web Presence. If you don’t want your messages shown, turn it off anytime in User Settings > Data & Privacy.

Sorry mate but this is a pretty negligent and narrow take.
Titanfall 2 copped possibly one of the worst launch windows in the history of gaming - right between a Battlefield and COD game (by a week). Arguably a direct sabotage of its potential had it launched with breathing room.
When Apex launched Titanfall-related content, Titanfall 2's player count SURGED only to be DDOS'ed (some theorize by members of the Apex community, but that is hearsay to my understanding).
Apex stands on the shoulders of what Titanfall could have been if it wasn't mishandled by its publisher, and I stand on business of that.
