more clickbait fearmongering slop from dexerto, this does not apply to "public servers" this applies to servers in the Discovery program, y'know... servers that need to meet THESE requirements AND apply for it lol

Discord will soon make public server messages searchable on Google
The feature will be enabled by default for US adults, but users can opt out in their privacy settings
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Discord's update is limited to future messages (mid-Dec 2026+) from public channels in Discoverable Servers only (a subset of ~63k specific public servers with 1k+ members); not all servers or past messages. Users/admins can opt out.

This is more limited than the post implies. It only applies to some parts of Discoverable Servers. Private Servers, Community Servers, DMs, group DMs, and private or role-restricted channels in Discoverable Servers are excluded too. Usernames and avatars are not shown next to messages.
We made this update because over the years people told us useful info that used to be findable on the web had gotten hard to track down.
Admins and members get to decide how their content is shared, or can opt out completely.
Starting today, admins can pick which channels take part, or opt out entirely, in Server Settings > Web Presence. If you don’t want your messages shown, turn it off anytime in User Settings > Data & Privacy.

BREAKING:
Scientists confirm that an ADHD brain can hyperfocus for 4 hours straight on a complex hobby—but will physically freeze for 3 days over a chore that takes 90 seconds to finish.
Researchers baffled.
ADHD community: "Yeah, we know."
No clinical citation needed—every parent and kid staring at a pile of shoes by the door is the study. Here is why tiny tasks paralyze an ADHD brain, and how to trick yourself (or your kid) into starting.1/6

So to recap; Scratchies, powerball, poker machines, sports betting, loot boxes and arcades where you lose ACTUAL money are totally fine and legitimate in Australia but playing games with simulated gambling that is FAKE isn’t ok and is blocked & banned. Make it make sense. 🤔
