It's bittersweet, but I am happy to upload this week's Mario News #26, which will be my last weekly episode. I would still like to do special episodes for big events.
It's been great and I hope there will still be value in looking back at these in the future. On to new things!

FUCKING FINALLY!
Retimed to a 46:59 but still, almost threw it away in BITS, was on pace for 6th place in BITS.
This run after retime beats the world record when I started by about .2 seconds.

I GOT THE SMB2J ANY% WORLD RECORD! The run ended up being a 7:51.607, exactly 1 framerule faster than the previous WR by Niftski. This run happened about an hour after Niftski's new SMB1 Any% WR, what a crazy day for 2D Mario speedrunning, 2 WRs in 1 day.

4:54.299 SMB1 ANY% WORLD RECORD ON HALLOWEEN WHILE LARPING AS MARIO! It doesn't even feel real that I actually achieved this, but here we are. Only 2 frames (33 milliseconds) stand between this run and absolute perfection / TAS tie. 4:54.265 next!

Dampe RNG has been solved on OoT
When Dampe blinks, he flutters his eyes either 3 or 4 times. By taking note of how long each blink is and putting them in a calculator, the possible RNG seeds can eventually be narrowed down to guarantee the heart piece, at the cost of some waiting.

I didn't expect src to go back on the changes from 1 October, but these new terms are very good for open data and for the community. Best thing they could have done given the situation.
We’ve updated our Terms of Use again, based on your feedback. Your Runs are yours, and Leaderboard Data is now open to everyone, for any purpose.
