Error in the NHS is at pandemic levels. That's always the case if processes are not being managed - it's a free for all. Never mind - no one will get blamed! Except the government.
Food for thought, thanks @HelenBevan @NNUH @NSafetymatters @LesleyDwyerCEO new ways of thinking #ChangingCulture
I have been asked for advice about improving organisational culture. My view? DON'T start by setting up a "culture change" programme or a direct "culture" intervention. Culture gets changed when people start doing real work differently. Culture change is a byproduct of wider improvements. See for instance: hbswk.hbs.edu/item/to-change…. Via @HBSWK

Grinding to a halt with discharges at the weekend affects your ability to free up beds for the patients in ED and leaves you starting the week on the back foot. As Einstein said “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”
So so sad well done @sarajcox for your beautiful words , that must have been so hard for you.
Many of the teams I work with are thinking about how their values & cultures can drive the ways they want to work together in future. One of the best used tools to help with this is the "culture design canvas" from @GusRazzetti. You can download it for free along with Miro & Mural templates for completing it remotely. You have to give your email address: liberationist-change-leaders…

We have chosen this project to showcase how using the PDSA cycle can drive improvement.

Do we really understand why change can be difficult for people #PSIRF is a huge culture change programmes and new way of working for all of us #PatientSafety @NSafetymatters @JudyButcher @carol01180626 @DrNancyFontaine @Nickhulme61
Before labelling people as “resistors” “disengaged” - ask yourself:
Do they feel threatened?
Are relationships at risk?
Can they see the vision?
Is the pace right?
Is there trust & understanding?
What’s in it for them?
Are there power imbalances?
Scared of loss?
#engagement
Do we know or acknowledge the Elephant in the Room that will derail PSIRF or stop us from improving #PatientSafety @NSafetymatters
