As widely rumoured, the UK government is considering legalising gen AI training on copyrighted work without a licence.
This would be a huge betrayal of the UK’s creators. It would mean letting AI companies use creators’ work to build highly scalable AI models that will directly compete with them.
This cannot be allowed. All UK creators, and the millions of people who benefit from the brilliant work that comes from the UK’s creative industries, should oppose this.

I feel it’ll be biased by the fun weekend I had in New Orleans before everyone showed up lol! I was pleased I got to see two groups of people and have an extended stay in the US for once! Biz wise hard to say ROI wise but as you know well us VR folks stick together :)
Yea I’m not doing the same thing I did last year of extending the trip to cover both, mainly because we’re going as a family to Vancouver Island after Seattle but also got a friends wedding between in the UK. I wish Meta would announce sooner :( Going to miss my VR buds!

Proximity / region based disabling of recording / photo features soon I think. Could be context specific. Food photos fine, photo of person you’re with or know (from database), blur people in background, videos disabled, calls disabled. Use your phone otherwise.
