“And if you have a personal problem, you can talk to me, anytime. I very much expect you to uphold professional standards within this organisation if you still wish to hold your responsibilities as Director of Global Relations.” Ruth just, silent.

“Your work was excellent; but to respect each other is must, Ruth. Do not pass your work on to someone else; that’s disrespectful and crosses the line within our department.” I said in flat tone; in fact, I was holding back anger at something I simply could not tolerate.

“Let me explain this to you again, Ruth. You’re responsible for the integration of international students, which includes the duty to report anything related to that. Not to giving the task of correcting your reports, to others.”

I could see a change in Ruth’s expression. She had realised why she’d been called over at that moment. “No, but to make sure everything about the report was done well, is her job, right? Am I wrong?” “Yes.” “In this part, you’re wrong.”

“You know that everyone has their own responsibilities and must take responsibility with that and respect each other's work, right?” Ruth answered it, “Yes.” “What are your responsibilities, Ruth?”

“Are you sure?” I asked, looking her in the eye. She then nodded, reassuring me that her answer was honest. “Yes, very sure.” Now it’s my turn to nod her answer. “Well then, allow me to talk about your work first, Ruth. The reason why I'm calling you here is about the report.”

“How are you getting on so far, Ruth? Is there anything you’d like to talk about, or perhaps is the work proving too much for you?” Ruth's face change into shocked in few second but then her eyebrows furrowed, confused. “Emm, no, nothing. Everything is fine, Roy.”
