From @MLBNetwork: The Rays (80 scouts) and Brewers (64) have two of the largest scouting departments in baseball. The Brewers (46 employees) and Rays (39) both rank in the top 7 in MLB in largest analytics departments.
Spending to win doesn't necessarily involve top free agents.

Beginning my mound blend work for this offseason with @PPL_Lou at 80%.
Focus is developing a bigger breaking ball and executing pitches at a high level.

I look forward to the day when we don’t use timing to describe why hitters are off.
I’d argue we currently lack the tools to accurately measure why a hitter’s bat is not getting to the spot.
Wrote about what's behind Shohei Ohtani's nearly-two-months-and-counting-homerless drought.
Short answer: his timing seems wonked

The Miami Marlins are hiring Dillon Lawson as the new hitting coach
Lawson was hired back in July as the team's roving hitting coach, so this is technically an internal hire.
Was mostly known for his time as the New York Yankees hitting coach in 2022-23

Keith Mitchell (‘27 KY) just unloads here and gets every stitch on this one for a 3-run 💣 deep the other way. Well connected powerful swing that gets into lower and keeps the weight back. Came off sizzling hot at EV: 99. #WWBAWorlds @MemphisBaseball commit.
