There is more reading in the numeracy test than the reading test!

We took a segment of the test from May today as a staff. The numeracy segment is basically also a literacy test given how the questions are structured.

You might be able to teach 1.5 times faster, but can they learn 1.5 times faster! thepress.co.nz/nz-news/35029…

Proposed charter school aims to teach 1.5 times faster than public system

Four adults per class, longer school days and an “explicit teaching model” are hallmarks of an Australian school system proposed in New Zealand.

Seymour fails to understand that unions are made up of teachers (the ones paying the fees) They don't oppose charter schools because they're a financial threat. They oppose them because, unlike Seymour, they have experience in education & want what's best for our young people.

The unions will criticise charter schools because they will lose their membership fees and their grip on the sector, I say to them it’s time they put the students at the heart of education.

Release of official advice on #charterschools shows that the case for spending on them is very weak. The NZ Govt decision to invest them, rather than in improving the capacity of the public school system, appears to be driven by ideology, not evidence. nzherald.co.nz/nz/charter-sc…

Charter schools are an ideological experiment that isn’t supported by evidence. Labour has abolished the charter school model before and we will do it again. As we did last time, we will consider what happens to any existing charter schools on a case by case basis.
