This is a political earthquake and a BDS victory. In the most Jewish city in the country, New Yorkers have made it clear that it’s no longer politically or financially viable to pledge unconditional support for the Israeli military and government.
NEW: In his 10th month in office, @MarkLevineNYC has decided not to reinvest in Israeli bonds, breaking a campaign promise on a particularly fraught issue. He said he still supports Israel, but that the bonds aren’t strong enough investments:

“The political ideology of Zionism in practice seeks to get maximal land for a Jewish ethnostate with minimal Palestinian presence. And what that has meant has been an ongoing belligerent military occupation, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and genocide” — JVP Political Director @beth_avedon
America’s relationship with Israel is becoming an electoral fault line, dividing both parties and major Jewish political groups.
This week, we ask: As the old political consensus is tested, who gets to shape what replaces it? revealnews.org/podcast/unite…
Ahead of Netanyahu's speech, @DarializaforNY @HamawyForNJ @MelatKirosCO and @RepRabb joined 400 people holding a mass sit-in outside the UN demanding an end to the genocide and to US military funding to Israel.
Next year, they're going to Congress.
It matters who we elect.

At my jobs in Jewish organizations, at my synagogue, at my Jewish dinner tables, across Jewish op-eds, journals, blogs and podcasts we have spoken for years about how Israel’s behavior is fueling antisemitism.
It’s not surprising that Republicans are calling Hasan Piker antisemitic for saying the same thing. But I am surprised I’m still surprised it’s the Democrat establishment helping them lie.
After all, throughout history, like clockwork, the liberals have always feared socialism more than fascism. Which is just a compact way to say they fear the power of ordinary people more than they fear a dictator.

ICYMI: Democratic leadership remains unmatched in ignoring the will of its own base
I’m honored to be named Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa.
At a moment of enormous change across the region, I’ll work to strengthen America’s relationships with Israel and our Gulf allies, expand regional peace, advance American diplomacy, and ensure our foreign policy is grounded in strength, security, and reality. I’m ready to get to work.

Dan Goldman lost his reelection because he very literally supports funding genocide.
I wouldn’t turn to him for advice on what is moral or politically strategic.
A pathetic and desperate tweet from a candidate who knows she is losing.
Abdul, we were both on the ballot in 2018. I was capable of winning my competitive primary and general election. You lost.
You lost by over twenty points to Gretchen Whitmer and you will lose to Mike Rogers by talking like this.
Everyone in America understands you want to blame all of your problems on Jewish Americans.
But buddy, let me be very clear, I will lower the costs of groceries, ban stock trading for elected officials, stop Trump's abuses of power, and protect Michigan manufacturing.
And you’ll just be a celebrity whining and writing books to get even richer. You’re part of the complainer class, looking for their next book or podcast deal.
Bro, I just want to work for Michigan.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya stood at the centre of Kamal Adwan Hospital as Gaza’s healthcare system collapsed around him. Day in, day out, he treated his patients and carried out his medical duties, working through unbearable loss and grief. He bore witness to the devastating toll of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Throughout this time, Dr. Abu Safiya, like numerous Palestinian healthcare workers, refused to abandon his patients. He stayed at the hospital until the last second when Israeli forces raided it again and arbitrarily arrested him on 27 December 2024.
Today, Dr. Abu Safiya has spent at least 580 days behind bars in Israeli detention. He is still being held without charge, separated from his family, his colleagues, and the children he lovingly treated.
Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya and all other arbitrarily detained Palestinians.

It's true. We are infuriated by having a fascist president who meets with a genocidal prime minister to discuss strategies for further massacre and destruction.

Israeli forces stopped an ambulance carrying a pregnant Palestinian woman in labour. Her baby later died.
This is one of the stories Al Jazeera’s @nida_journo has had to report on from the occupied West Bank this week.

So this is the creature responsible for the killing of more than a hundred of my relatives, as well as tens of thousands of children and entire families. It is this creature and his fellow officials and criminal soldiers who reduced my city to rubble and left the bodies of my loved ones buried beneath the ruins. He is the subject of an arrest warrant, yet he has been able to travel more than 5,000 miles, move freely throughout the United States, and be welcomed as though everything is perfectly normal.
How is he allowed to walk free with blood on his hands? The Palestinian blood on his hands is dripping onto the streets, restaurants, and government buildings of Washington, D.C.
How on earth is this possible?

A new wave of violence by Israeli settlers and soldiers in the occupied West Bank is part of a larger goal of "ethnically cleansing Palestinians," says journalist Mariam Barghouti.

Statements like these are so dangerous.
The ADL must stop intentionally trying to conflate the Jewish people with a genocidal apartheid state.
The Mayor is not making those conflations. Organizers are not making those conflations. Pro-Israel groups are the ones insisting on it.
Two men, one visibly Jewish, were attacked on the Upper West Side of NYC.
In a city with the highest number of antisemitic assaults last year, the optics are clear. Jewish New Yorkers deserve leaders who confront antisemitism with moral clarity, not those who downplay the fears of Jews here at home.
But here we are. We push back politely, we protest publicly, and yet even as the assaults continue Mayor Mamdani persists in demonizing the world’s only Jewish state practically putting a target on our backs. A stabbing is sickening and shameful regardless of the motivation, but if the motivation was antisemitism then it was entirely predictable.
The Mayor is responsible for this city and for keeping its residents safe. It's time he stopped being an activist and started doing his job or step down and let someone else take over. It’s the least Jewish New Yorkers, and all New Yorkers, deserve.

I met with Blinken shortly after 10/7-right before I decided to take him to court for failing to stop an unfolding Genocide. He said-and I quote “this will continue to get worse before they get better “, and that “the time isn’t right” to tell Israelis to restrain themselves.
Jake Sullivan regrets not doing more to restrain Israel. Biden fell into "the trap" of deferring arms halt thinking deal was imminent. "I will say straightforwardly—we should have put more pressure on Israel to take a different approach," he tells @ddk_nyc newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…
