In 1985, Newsweek asked a terrifying question about Dungeons & Dragons:
“Kids: The Deadliest Game?” 😱
I’m not kidding.
The September 9 issue devoted an entire page to the growing panic over D&D, complete with allegations of occult influence, sorcery, and even teenage suicide.
And the caption beneath a photograph of kids playing D&D?
“An introduction to Tolkien, or an invitation to sacrilege?”
Holy shit. 😂
Thankfully, Dr. Joyce Brothers offered a little sanity, pointing out that the overwhelming majority of kids playing D&D weren’t committing suicide.
It’s remarkable to look back at what our little hobby was being blamed for.
Who else survived the great D&D Satanic Panic of the 1980s?
Did your parents, teachers, or church ever try to take your dice away?

The conduct of these fans at the @UCF vs. @BYU game was disgraceful, and the @SUS_Florida Board of Governors has no patience for this. The President of UCF, with whom I’ve been in contact, and his team, acted immediately when this occurred. Fans who did this were kicked out of the game, and i suspect the university will have its own plans for dealing with students who violated their policies. I know President Cartwright well, and no one is more disgusted than he is, and he is dealing with this appropriately. Thank you, @BYUFlorida and @BYU for your patience and understanding. These people’s conduct does NOT represent our State University System or UCF.

Obama tried sending a Green Beret to prison. The crime? The GB beat the hell out of an Afghan police chief who chained little boys to a desk and did horrors I will not say. That is who Obama is. That is who his generals are. Pedophile demons in human suits.

In 1945, my uncle was ready to invade Japan. Instead, he brought it home in the form of a starving 17 year old girl whom I came to know as Aunt Lillian. In the occupation he met the teenage Lillian, who had been moved out to the country to escape the bombing. My uncle took her under his wing to take care of her, and treated her like a little sister.
When he came home, he brought Lillian. She moved into my grandparents house, and became in effect their daughter. I knew her as Aunt Lillian. Later in life, she met Mitsuru Takeda, who had been interned in California during the war (I never heard him complain). I called them Uncle Mike and Aunt Lillian and they brought a current of Japan into our lives. She taught me origami, took me to Japanese restaurants (rare in the 60s). we had Japanese dolls, Japanese art, always somewhere in our lives.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a teenager before I realized that two full-blood Japanese couldn't be my actual blood relatives. But I loved them both the same.
I guess I've returned the favor in a tiny measure because my game Call of Cthulhu has proven extremely popular in Japan and brought joy to so many Japanese people. Thanks, Japan for my uncle and aunt.

🚨 CAUGHT: James Talarico got hit with a Daily Wire hidden camera, and he admitted his TRANSGENDER policies have NOT changed.
Just days after telling Fox News he would oppose biological males in girls’ sports when safety or fairness is at risk, he told a supposed supporter the opposite.
“The way I fought for transgender kids in the legislature is how I will fight for them in the U.S. Senate.”
“My position hasn’t changed.”
He even bragged about having “the most inclusive policy” of any candidate running.
Texas sees the game.
