Meditation is just giving attention to your breath (prana).
Manifestation is just giving attention to your thoughts.
Where attention goes, energy flows.
Ultimate Happiness by @prathoshap
1. Frugality is freedom from unnecessary wants, not inability to afford luxuries.
2. The less you depend on external things for happiness, greater your inner freedom.
3. Own things; never let things own you.
4. Wealth is a means to live well, not a purpose to live for.
World needs more teachers like him 🙏❤️
Before you awaken the serpent, learn to silence the mind. Tantra without stability can become turmoil; Mantra without awareness, mechanical repetition.
First siddhi is mastery over Chitta. Everything else comes after.
Yoga Chitta Vrtti Nirodhah 🕉️❤️
I'll put it in simple words.
Any Sadhana, be it Tantra or Mantra or advanced yoga, first the mind has to be silenced. Otherwise you'll lose sanity. (What you call ghost is nothing but Neurosis, psychosis & Personality disorders in modern science). The guru can be outer guru or inner guru.
Patanjali declares,
"Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha"
Meaning:
Yoga is nothing but silencing the fluctuations of the mind.
West is approaching Advaita from first principles.
When spacetime, consciousness, self and reality itself become open questions, you begin to see why ancient Indian philosophers questioned them millennia ago.
Utimate intellectual flex? Arriving at the questions of Advaita without ever having read a single Upanishad 🕉️
Akṛtvā dṛśya-vilayam ajñātvā tattvam ātmanaḥ
Brahma-śabdaiḥ kuto muktir ukti-mātra-phalair nṛṇām.
~ Vivekachudamani v63
Without dissolution of perceived as an independent reality and without knowing true nature of Self, how can people attain liberation through mere words about Brahman? Such words yield only the fruit of speech.
If you say, I am Brahman, but still believe that your essential nature is limited to a particular body, that every external event can diminish your true Self and that liberation requires turning yourself into something you are not.
Self does not become Brahman through realization.
Realization removes error; it does not create truth.
Na gacchati vinā pānaṃ vyādhir auṣadha-śabdataḥ
Vinā aparokṣānubhavaṃ brahma-śabdair na mucyate.
~ Vivekachudamani v62
A disease does not disappear merely by uttering the word medicin without taking it. Likewise, one is not liberated merely by speaking about Brahman without direct realization.
Imagine someone who has memorized every medical textbook but refuses to take the medicine prescribed for their illness. Their knowledge of medicine does not itself cure them.
Likewise, a person may study Upanishads, debate, explain consciousness and quote sages/seers extensively while continuing to identify completely with body:mind and its fears.
This verse distinguishes conceptual understanding from aparoksanubhava; immediate, non-indirect knowledge of Self.
Brahman is not realized by repeating a description of Brahman. Mistaken understanding of oneself must be removed.
Ranked Indian gurus by philosophical depth, influence & legacy.
Osho is in C, Krishnamurti is in A.
Buddha /Vivekananda /Shankara in S.
Now tell me where I'm wrong 👇
The intention of this ranking wasn't to diminish anyone's guru or measure spiritual realization on a leaderboard (which is not possible)
Like space, which accommodates everything without being diminished or water, which takes the shape of its vessel, philosophical traditions express truth through different temperaments, methods and historical contexts.
Ranking was a subjective assessment of philosophical depth, historical influence, and enduring legacy; not an objective verdict on who attained the highest realization.
Disagreement is welcome.
No tier list can contain the infinite. 🙏
Ajñāna-sarpa-daṣṭasya brahma-jñānauṣadhaṃ vinā
Kimu vedaiś ca śāstraiś ca kimu mantraiḥ kim auṣadhaiḥ.
~ Vivekachudamani v61
For one bitten by the serpent of ignorance, what use are Vedas, scriptures, mantras or medicines without the remedy of the knowledge of Brahman?
Serpent = avidya = ignorance of one's true nature.
Its poison is the mistaken identification of the Self with body, mind, ego and individual personality.
We say, I am suffering, I am incomplete, or I must become something greater.
Who is this ‘I’ that you take yourself to be?
Brahma Jnana does not mean acquiring information about a distant God. It means recognizing the reality of Brahman, ground of existence and understanding true nature of the Self.
Scriptures and mantras can guide the seeker, but merely reciting them does not remove ignorance.
Knowing the words Aham Brahmasmi (I am Brahman) is different from realizing their meaning.
Cid anu
Replying to @binarybodhi
चिदणु (cid-aṇu) ... This word comes in Yogavashsihta ..
(it is not a physical or measurable atom. It is the minimal point at which the one infinite Consciousness (चित्, cit) appears to localize itself as an individual experiencer)
Can you provide an image on this ?
Scientific, my foot 👣
1. Can you scientifically prove that you exist; not merely your body, but subjective experience of being you?
2. Can you directly observe consciousness itself, rather than its neural correlates?
3. Can you prove that external world exists independently of your experience of it?
4. Can you scientifically prove that reason itself is reliable without using reason to justify reason?
5. Can you prove resurrection of Jesus Christ scientifically? Can you scientifically prove or disprove every theological claim in Christianity?
6. Can you scientifically prove Islam as a divine revelation rather than investigate its historical origins and textual claims?
7. Can you prove that objective moral values exist independently of human minds?
8. Can you prove that other minds possess subjective experiences, rather than infer it from their behaviour?
9. Can you scientifically prove that universe has an ultimate purpose or that it has none?
10. Can you experimentally demonstrate that mathematical truths exist independently of the physical universe?
11. Can you prove that reality is not a simulation?
12. Can you establish, through empirical science alone, why anything exists rather than nothing?
13. Can you scientifically prove that every claim must be scientifically provable?
Science is an extraordinarily powerful metod of investigting empirical reality.
It is not a magical instrumnt that settles every metaphysical, historical, epistmological / theological question.
Scientific temper is not the habit of dismissing what one dislikes. It is discipline of knowing what evidence establishes, what it merely suggests & what remains unknown.
Enlightenment, liberation, realization; these words have been burdened with centuries of mystification.
It is far simpler: the cessation of minds incessant fluctuations.
Not end of laughter.
Not rejection of joy.
Not becoming a lifeless statue of perpetual seriousness.
When mind is still, life does not stop dancing.
You can laugh, play, love and rejoice; without being psychologically entangled in every movement of existence.
Freedom is not the absence of lifes movements, but absence of minds compulsive bondage to them.
Nicely avoided India. 😂
But the real problem with this list is its definition of AGE.
India became an independent republic in 1950. Indian civilization is thousands of years older.
Indus Valley Civilization flourished around 2600–1900 BCE. Vedic tradition, Upanishads, Buddhism, Jainism and Indian philosophical schools emerged across different periods of this much longer history.
Upanishads were already asking profound questions about consciousness, existence, self and ultimate reality long before many modern nation-states existed.
Same methodological problem applies to China, Egypt, Iran and Japan: age of a civilization is not automatically the age of its present-day state.
If you're measuring modern political independence, use that criterion for everyone. If you're measuring civilizational antiquity, use that criterion for everyone.
You cannot date a civilization by the birthday of its current government.
India's modern republic is young.
Its civilizational history is ancient.
Both facts can be true simultaneously.
