A bad singer can’t serve the song. Maybe you can’t serve it because you’re flat or nasal or lack range, but not necessarily. A great singer like Dylan or Waits or Neil Young is using his so-called flaws to reveal the song. Dylan (like Bowie) also has many distinct voices.
